I should have done this when I got my pre-order in the mail. But life events put it off a few years.
Currently the timing doesn't seem any better (was laid off at christmas, having trouble getting
back into school, financial problems, bla bla life). Hopefully I will find the motivation to fit this in.
I don't have my paints set up, so it may be a while. Plus my painting skills keep me from wanting
to destroy such a lovely model.

Forge World cares so much about their products to ship them very securely....

Yet somehow they manage to get it all in there and surrounded with bubble tape.
This is how I imagine the Titan drop pods work.

And when you dump out the contents you've got almost a dozen plastic baggies full of crack,
I mean Forge World.

Hydraulic assemblies.

So I was washing up my Reaver when a couple bad things happened. Firstly I dropped my camera which bounced off the counter then the floor. I broke the focus mechanism on one lens, thought I trashed my flash too, turns out it has a bounce function I wasn't aware of... Luckily the camera appear to be fine otherwise.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So I went to wash up my resin as you must do. Good old simple green. No matter what you clean with-there will always remain a surface sheen on the resin. I assume everybody who has received FW resin knows what I mean, same with my Warhound titan.

As I was washing up I started to feel like there wasn't enough pieces.

Had to be careful, didn't realize it included parts which I may have lost down the drain.

One of the multiple poor souls who sacrificed to become one with the machine.... What is the fluff on these, are they servitors? Covered with simple green.

It's these details which me want to make it all full access, magnetize everything so you can open it up. But I also fear the paint job I would do wouldn't be adequate. Not withstanding, I assume the consensus would be in agreement to make the interior details accessible?

The first tiny thing I need to fix are some of the Gatling blaster barrels, Just putting them in some hot water almost seems enough. I've read of this heated sand technique as well. Anybody with some good tips?

Sadly, after drying up all the pieces and grouping them into piles, I've realize I'm missing all of the pistons, I must have left a container of medium pieces in storage (250 miles away). I will procedure as I can for now, I fear this will stop me soon since everything has pistons and tubes on it.

Next step I will begin cleaning the mold lines, flashing, getting dry fits and getting an idea of what kind of pose I want.

Reavers generally aren't posed very dynamic, I'm not sure if this is due to the limitations of the models design or what.

Also, I didn't base my Warlord, anybody have any opinions/experience with large model basing.... Should I?

For a base, I would go to home depot and look for a plaque. you could laquer it and make it shine really nice, so it is almost "on display"

I didn't think of basing it that way, I would have went with a city ruin. I'm curious what peoples opinions are, too bad you can't put polls in threads.

I have been slowly cleaning and getting familiar with the parts of this "kit".
They actually label some of the parts, which was unexpected.

Lots of sawing, scraping and sanding.

I've had to start referring to the FW photos to figure out where some pieces go.

I currently have a surprising number of parts that I've yet to determine location. I may have to ask for help. It's like a puzzle as well as a model.

On the Warlord titan the tubes are actual rubber, which obviously presents a problem for painting, this time they're resin, so you have to heat them, mold them into the location before you glue them. Not sure how to handle this for articulation or weapon swapping. I really should order the powerfist...

Here are the pieces which I've yet to determin use.
1. Extra short fat tube
2. Two sets of sheathing or something
3. Couplt of tubing ports, similar to what is on the weapons, but I can't figure where these go
4. Six or so hand grips

I still don't know what these are for if anyone can identify (handles and half piping). ..

Continuing to clean up pieces and test fit everything. The legs aren't as posable as in the Warhound

I really wanted to do a dynamic pose, you don't see it often with the Reaver, I just watched a youtube video of a Blue Table Painting Reaver that looks pretty bad ass. It is somewhat dynamic in that it had a base with a vehicle, I really like how they did it. I still don't know if I should go with a base or not. If anybody knows where I can find gallery photos of this Reaver, please post.

41 Pieces from toes to hip. A Landraider is in the 60's

I find these tools indispensable for removing resin.

Working with resin is great because it's so forgiving. You should never have to return anything to Forge World due to warpage. This piece I left under the hot tap for 5 minutes, rubber banded it around the fitting piece and it looks perfect.

So I thought this sounded like a good idea.

I sent the photo and this to FW:
There are some pieces which I've yet to identify as being part of the Reaver model. I was hoping someone might help clear up any of my confusion. Enclosed is a photo of the pieces. Both the heavy duty grab handles (I believe 6 in all) and 2 sets of half cylindrical covers (for a total of 8?). I'm not sure if these pieces are possible from another model or if I've just missed where they belong. Any assistance would be appreciated.

They very quickly replied:
Thanks for your e-mail. The two sets of half-cylinder pieces, the large cable and the cable socket are from a Reaver Titan, although the grab handles are not and the final part pictured is the 'upper arm' mount from a Contemptor Dreadnought weapon.
Did you receive these extra parts in a Titan ordered directly from us?

They didn't actually help me much (besides telling me the handles aren't from the Reaver). So I sent this:
Thank you for the hasty reply!
I should have edited the cable and socket out, I figured where those go
The half-cylinder pieces are from the Reaver? That's driving me mad. Although I find I often star at Forge World photos endlessly, as much as I've gone over the Reaver pictures, I can't tell where these go. Please help!
The grab handles look cool, maybe from something Orky?
I'm not sure what you mean by final part, what remains in the photo is the 25th GW Crimson Fists model and a 316L surgical steel scalpel. I don't have the Contemptor pattern Dreadnought, so cool though, brilliant sculpt that blends the RT Dreadnought with modern style.
Yes I received these parts in a Titan ordered directly from you.

Haven't heard back, I guess they're researching it. I really don't think these pieces belong to the Reaver, am I wrong or does it seem like they don't know what they're talking about?

So after I sent them another reply they sent me the 16 page instructions which I didn't even know existed. I guess I'm just an anal donkey-cave, but how come there is a download section of the FW site, and it doesn't have the Reaver instructions?

To be honest I really hate when GW gets bashed, I don't want the complaints to be true. I want these companies to be the biggest and best (which is what they are in terms of market), but yet little things just don't make sense. Can you believe that a share of GW stock is more than a share of Apple?! GW revenue last year was nearly 200M USD. That is just insane, and they can't put a link to the instructions on their site? Rant over. I love GW, did anyone see the post they had for an assistant games designer a few weeks ago? I saw my dreams flash before my eyes. I need to get rich and buy a majority share of GW, Then I will make them hire me.

I agree with you 100%
It is too bad that the little things dont make sense, because if they did, they really would be the best!

Can I have a copy of the instruction manual, I am really curious to see how it all goes together!

I will be making another guide for the Reaver (similar to the Warhound in my signature). Probably won't be finished until summer sometime though. If anybody needs the Reaver instruction sheets, PM me and I can email it to you. It's a 2.5meg PDF.

Also, anyone got a line on getting rubber tubing like the stuff that comes with the Warhounds? I don't like these resin cables that you have to heat and mold into position. I like the rubber ones that came with the Warhound, they hold paint well enough. I believe this is the only option if you desire to have weapon swaps on a titan.

It sort of ended up on hold. Unfortunately between loosing my job (December), trying to figure out life stuff & filing for bankruptcy (Damn you Forge World! lol) I just haven't had the resources to dedicate to this. But I don't want it to fall behind. I need to order some secrete parts and I will be able to pick it back up. Mostly it just taunts me as it sits on my desk.

On a technical note, I've yet to determine if I want to base this Titan, if I do, I would like to have him stepping on something... Building rubble? A vehicle would be cool, maybe I will sacrifice an un-built Rhino? Figure this out is important just to start building the feet. If I go baseless than I can start building the feet right now.

Ouch.. That really stinks. I think based models are always more delightful, but an unbased one would be easier to play with

What are they made of? Is the resin solid until heated or flexible throughout?
