I still have tons of those things. I still primered them white and inked the living hell outa them.
But yeah, you could glue them up and play them right out of the box back in the beginnings of 3rd edition.

I never understood why they made plastic trees for 8$ for 4 when you can just get lichen and sticks cheap. Or wire and sponge... or any number of things not plastic.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity...... |

Yep, yep. That's exactly what I did with mine, and I picked up a bunch of extras from bargain bins and other people who didn't want the ones that came in the 3rd edition box. Low-effort, tabletop quality.
