Ok community i need a hand from some expert builders.

I have 8 metal gargoyles 3rd? 4th? edition. thye are the ones with the under belly split wing assembly. I am having fits of rage trying to asemble them and get them on the bases. Wings keep falling off.. bases are not fitting corectly.... ugh.

any advice to fix the wings to the bodys without pinning? area to work in is so small its hard to pin.
been using super glue in vast amounts but all i do is end up having a super glue ball o' chunky under the gargole by the time im done...

any advice help please...

No real advice, but i can say i feel your pain having gone through the same thing years ago... and even when i got them together they were so prone to breaking it was unreal

I have around 40 gargoyles, and here's how I built them.

First, I did pin the wings. Drill a hole thru the thin metal bit that sits between the wings on the body. Then drill corresponding holes in the bits on the wings that connect to the body. Size a pin that goes through the hole in the body so that it connects both wings together. This way you can glue them both on at the same time. I used those little clamps with rubber on the tips to hold them in place till they dried.

I almost always pinned the base to the model, and even then they break all the time. It helps to make the hole bigger (and maybe file down the narrow bit a little) so you can fit the wider part of the spindle into the mini. It's quite annoying that they're not plastic because of how topheavy the based minis are.

I suggest you also try to find the metal flight stands they used to use for the Babylon 5 ships when Agents of Gamin made them. I'm not sure what stands Mongoose uses, but the metal ones hold well, even though they also require a slotta base.

I have no idea if this works or if it is a mental thing but it has helped me in the past. Take the wings and the part you are gluing them into and put a tiny streak of glue on them both. Now just wait for it to try and try gluing again, it seems to me that it glues much easier with that bit to hold it there, but Like I said this could just be a mental thing on my part.

Hello,

I have been faced with a similar issue when trying to glue different models (e.g. the upper and lower parts of a Tomb Kings Skeleton Giant, the wings and the body of a Griffon or Pegasus, ...). Basically, the first few tries ended up with me very angry , a lot of superglue used and nothing actually glued together, besides my fingers ... So after some thoughts I tried the following idea which proved to work quite well.

I used toilet paper ... Use it as a joint between the different parts you want to glue, it absorbs superglue very easily and allows you to have a good fit between the different parts. I found it quite efficient and it also fills gaps.
