Hi guys,

I'm new here so I hope this is the right area, I did not see a finished model forum. If it is in the wrong place I'm sorry it won't happen again.

So as I mentioned I have just joined and I think as a good way to introduce myself I will show you guys what I've been working at for the last year. You don't need to be smart to have guessed that it is an army of Lamenters Space Marines. My favourite chapter, because lets face it who does not like the underdog.

So without further ado, onto pictures!

So I have just finished a ten man assualt squad only two days ago

and the army to date.........

I must go back and take pictures of each unit separatly, but I think it gives people a good idea of what I've been up to. I only have three more units to finish before I reach 2000pts. I am currently starting on a second squad of Devastators, which will be followed by a second ten man squad of marines and finally a five man squad of Terminators.

So any questions, comments or critisms, please speak up.

This is most definitely the right place ^_^.

Your models look great man!

I'd love to see a few close ups of individual marines to get a better idea of the level of detail, but from a tabletop standpoint, they're wonderful!

Wow, very pretty - and one of my favorite old school chapters. I can't wait to see a close-up of the commander. Looks sweet.

Thanks for the replys lads!

I never really thought about the Lamenters being an emo chapter, but I suppose they are a bit. But they were around a long time before the "emotive music" scene so at least they are not inspired by that sort of thing.

I know this is not the best pic as it is a little dark but this will have to do until I take a new picture with my new lightbox set up

Beautiful work

How did you do the mustard-yellow on the librarians robes. Is it a snakebite leather/bubonic brown combo or something more cunning? Either way it looks really rich.

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

Have you thought about the Axis of Evil pension scheme?

I'd have to go back and look at my notebook man to be 100% certain. But I can tell you I do my yellows all the same way, and thats using Iydanden Darksun foundation paint.

So at a guess I would say what I did was.....

an initial basecoat of watered down Iydanden Darksun until a nice even coverage,
a glaze of Vallejo Darkflesh Tan (may be the wrong name but its like Beastial Brown)
first highlight of Iydanden Darksun,
Add a drop of golden yellow and highlight.
add a second drop of golden yellow and highlight

As I said I cannot be a hundred percent sure until I check my notebook this evening. But I hope that helps.

These are sweet. Go get a couple of desk lamps and really get some bright pics of your libby.

You should write an army profile of these guys, and perhaps an article on how you painted them as well. Yellow is just one of those colors that's so hard to do...

Hmm maybe I might! How does one go about doing an army profile or article?

Write one up and submit it some where for review?

Great work! It's been a while since I've seen such a wellpainted, striking and neat army, especially Marines!

only suggestion i'd make, is it looks like you may use black for the script work on books etc, with such a 'clean' scheme I think black may be a bit too bold, and personally would go for an 'off' black/brown, maybe even a light brown, but just darkenough to be clear. From the pics so far it looks like you have the skill to pull it off. Th black just seems to draw the eye to it a little too much. Just my thoughts.

Looking forward to more pics! Any tanks in the plans?

These look so good I want to start a chapter! Haha, they look good but I am a Bad Moon at heart, it's the yellow makin' me say crazy things! I really like them, it looks like you painted them very nicely. I also would like to see some close ups of the troops.

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Thats a really great idea man, which I had not thought of before! I'll have a look into doing that.

As for tanks.....well I initially wrote this list as a troop only army, mainly due to the backround of the chapter. I assumed that they would have no tanks left. But I am building this army from the build up of of several years of buying Space Marine units and painting some of them Blood Angels, then changing my mind and painting them Dark Angels and changing my mind again and going for Space Wolves. Because of this I have quite a large collection of marine stuff, and even though the list was written as a troop heavy 2000 pointer I have enough stuff to make 3000pts, including a Dread, a Land Raider and a Vindie.

I am currently just about to start painting my second Devastator squad. Since it sounds like people might be interested, maybe I should do a step by step painting guide, taking pictures at every step of the way. Does that sound like something people might be interested in? If so should I post it here, start a new thread or try and write and article?
