great except that you have a librarian, which would instantly make you a heretic in the time before the actual heresy. other than that little point i love the army. nice paint job, and great use of the older army type

There is the link to where I got my drop pods. Also I built the army around post heresy loyalist Luna Wolves, survivors of Isstvan III.... but could techniquely be preheresy as well since the whole force is built from nothing but Heresy Era stuff.

I'm also a fan of Pre-Heresy armies, and this one is pretty slick. I especially dig the weathering. I always prefer weathered stuff, and so often you see marines that are "factory-fresh."

Reminds me of stormtroopers too, so that's a plus.

I loved the heresy series and I love this army. Great work! I was just wondering one thing, did you make your own decals for the shoulder pads or did you freehand it? I ask this because if you used decals such as those of BoLS I would like to know how your experience with using them and making your own was. I plan on making a pre-heresy army of my own using decals and I was just wondering if this was difficult to do or not?

Thanks and great job!

Lots of attention to detail, these will look sharp on the table. I particularly like the lighting effects of the eyes and the plasma gun barrel. Also I like the color scheme and props for the dirty legs.

One suggestions: Pick out some highlights on the black borders of the shoulder pads. (They might already be there, but I can't see in the photos) It would help emphasize the already good white work.

Models look amazing. I think the studded shoulder pads are supposed to go on the left side.

Nice army there, sapper

Just a few things:

1) I know how hard it is to get white/bright grey right, but you're off to good start. Only suggestion from me is to thin your paint. Especially on the Chaplain the paint looks really thick.

2) No Librarians ! If you're going for a correct theme of a PH army, then you better ban Librarians from your lists, oherwise you would be considered a heretic If it's only for the tourney then I guess it's ok.

3) Mark VII helmets. All of your speeders crew members have them,....drop them

4) Give your metallics a tad more shading. At least one colour more.

5) Did you sculpt Lokens crest yourself ? Looks a bit too much like a punk, but then again I'm not good at scultping crests neither.

6) Last thing I don't understand are the HQ decals on the speeders...but that's a pretty minor thing

Looking forward to seeing this army over at The Great Crusade forums, though

Really nice work.
How long did it take you to paint each drop pod?
Is the Luna Wolves decal freehand or decal?
Did this army win anything at Games Day?

I like this army, and white is a tough color to paint. I'm planning white marines, so I'm curious:
- It looks like you dipped or washed. How did you shade?
- When will you have pics of the Dreads?

Also, with the PH stuff, why the modern Land Speeders?

You mean these dreads?

You forgot the Scouts and display board.

The entire project can be seen here: http://www.brandxpainting.com/dg_luna_wolves_01a

And to answer questions:

Lucas: The LW symbol was a combination of 2 decals - a SW wolf head, and an Eldar crescent moon.

Captain Engelhardt: You're absolutely right on all points, and I fully admit I botched the horsehair crest - not only does it look punk, but technically it's suppsed to go ear to ear, as opposed to front to back.

JohnHwangDD: Models were shaded with a ink/paint wash, which was then mostly removed/diluted with a water overbrush.

TheThing: Primed models in a light grey, and drybrush, drybrush, drybrush!

Very nice collection and a nice theme. There's quite a bit that could be done to "sharpen" the individual technically - but this 40k hobby is about creating armies and you've done well!
