Howdy guys,
So, I got one of those special edition books... you know, the amazing ones. I love it. But I'm actually scared to read it. I don't wanna damage the pages. Anybody else share my stupid fear, or am I alone? Can I now claim ignorance of the rules for 5th, since I can't read my book?

why'd it have to be so pretty....

That's why I bought the Gamer's Edition. So I don't have to read my pretty rulebook.

Though that is slightly silly, I'll admit. When I get around to reading the fluff (just in my own home, on a comfy couch) I'll be reading from my Collectors Edition.

But for the rough and tumble task of Rules Bible, the regular edition is up to bat.

you must be speaking of the collectors edition..

yep, you don't buy that to read, you buy that to put in the don't touch selection..

I have the collectors edition and a regular rulebook.. I read the regular one.

With ONE exception, I totally do NOT understand the idea of buying the Collector's Edition ruleboox, EXCEPT to play with it.
I mean, in the long fun, it's NOT going to retain any dollar value AT ALL.

Look at the special edition of 4th that came out... leather bound or something... It's not worth diddly, now.

The one exception I mentioned is if you intened to ressell it for a profit in a year or two.

If you got it to keep... Well, you could have saved yourself some dough & got a copy of the regular one for a keepsake.

That being said, I don't begrudge you your desire to have it, nor do I cast aspersions for it. I'm simply stating that I don't "get it."

Here's my reasoning:

1) It's a true limited edition (only 4000 made), so it will retain some value.

2) I'm going to get the Black Reach book for regular gaming anyway.

3) I'm going to end up getting the collector's edition for close to the cost of the regular book after selling off the freebie I got with my order.
