Well it's almost that time of year again. Any Dakkites going to ye old personal hygiene disaster this year?

I'm making my yearly voyage there, but only two days this year. Girlfriend has a class til Fri. Ahh the joy of being a teacher (her).

Going to hit up the GW bits bins some Ohio retailer brings every year. Still kind of miffed about GW pulling stakes couple years ago. Enjoyed doing orders from their booth.

I'm qualified to play in a "dead" ccg World championship, but may pass on that. It's on Sunday.

next year. Assuming there is still a Gencon and a new Hordes release. My brother, 'Bill,' will probably go too.

I am heading straight to the fantasy flight booth to get my dark heresy fix then the black library booth then the GW bits guy.

I also will be playing some 40k there at some point and runing a dark heresy game.

@Old Man Ultramarine, which "dead" CGG are you referring to? I played in the World Championships of L5R and Raw Deal at past Gencons.

@Warsmith, any openings in your Dark Heresy game? I've been wanting to try it out.

As far as tips go for newbies, here is all I can offer.

1. Hopefully you have preregistered for anything you want as the lines to register are god-awful long initially. By Saturday or Sunday they are easier to navigate, but then you may have missed something on Thursday or Friday.

2. Soap. Sadly the lack of personal hygiene is still not a myth about gamers.

3. There is usually a lot of swag to be given away, so wonder around the vendor area and see what promotions are going to be happening as well as what freebies are being given away.

I just want it to hurry up and be GenCon, not because I'm going (I'm on the other side of the planet) but because when it starts, the next BattleTech core rulebook will finally be released in PDF format.

I've waited too long for that thing.

If you get to GenCon on Wed night before 10pm you can get your badge. Does not matter if you are pre-reg'd.

I recommend staying near the Indy airport. Priceline a hotel for around $60 a night. 10 minute drive to Convention center.

Parking is about $20 a day. I have found a secret lot. If you stay past 1am you can get out FREE

@Darrian13 Wow, you are out of the loop. Barron passed away earlier this spring of some certain cancer. He was 34. Yes, Barron would have made it a great event.

General Gen Con tips would depend on how many days you plan to be at the Con (staying in town or just driving in, etc. etc.).

Bring room for loot & be prepared to head back to your rooms in the afternoon when the expo center closes, drop off swag, eat & such, & grab minis & head back out!

There is the Indy 500 museum. That is on the west side of town. If you are looking for cool things to do, there is the Canal Walk downtown. The
Indianapolis Museum of Art is very cool and maybe like 10 minutes from Gen Con if that. Also the Children's Museum is very very cool, even if you
do not have kids it has some really awesome stuff there.

Well I don't have any pull w/ PP really, but I will certainly use all the power that peer pressure & nagging can provide =)

You guys have to get interviews w/ the PP doods. They already did it for That Other Podcast after all. I will be annoying Biggie & crew to make this happen cause I want to hear it!
