I have my IRA funds all in cash. Should I buy GW stock? It can't be in the cellar forever.... And besides, its just my retirement, right?

You should invest in my company, Vandelay Industries. PM me and I'll tell you where to send a cashiers check to.

I reiterate Stelek's post. There are so many factors that need to be accounted for (time horizon, risk tolerance, projected income needs, etc) that you really should see a financial expert. I specialized in finance while working on my masters and still work with a portfolio manager. Retirement money is nothing to mess around with.

Yes, you should definitely borrow against your GW miniatures to invest in the IRA.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

seriously.
You need to spred your money over different areas. If its extra, set up your Roth. then add another couple of areas, such as some treasuries, or invest in commodities. Grain is killing right now, so is the oil, but there are other things to consider, such as how long you want to keep it floating, or making sure that it is someplace like metals where it will do something in the long term.
best bet,
1.go see a pro to set up something for you.
2.don't do anything until youi have a plan.
3. have a goal in mind before you make a long term investment.
4. be careful of who you go to and what you do. get references, do your homework, and take your own time.
gl to you.
