Anyone notice that all the entries for Space Marine chapters etc are gone from Wikipedia? I wonder if GW made them take them down....

Seems odd. They've still got special rules, yet the triator legions (who don't) are still there.

Uhm, is it possible for a company to forcibly remove anything from wikipedia?

I think the articles involving the chapters were probably disputed and not fixed. They will most likely show back up as someone updates it.

GW has no grounds to request a deletion, or demand it.

Wikipedia content policies to articles are being applied sporadically. They're very hard on articles for things that have no third-party sources, such as TV show episodes, fictional characters, etc. Typically, such articles undergo an AfD process and are deleted by an administrator. Such deletions cannot be overturned without significant improvement in terms of rules-complicance.

Another aspect that's being enforced more harshly is that articles should be generally useful. No matter how well you write one on Blood Angels, for example, it will still mean pretty much nothing to an outsider. An article on Space Marines, on the other hand, could.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Yeah, I think this is more down to wikipedia's 'not famous enough' rule and a zealous editor taking control of that section of wikipedia.

I don't get that. Wikipedia has an enormous amount of material on comic book characters, which means just as little to outsiders as an article about the Blood Angels would.

Man, that's the joy of Anime! To revel in the complete and utter wastefullness of making an unstoppable nuclear-powered combat andriod in the shape of a cute little girl, who has the ability to fall in love and wears an enormous bow in her hair.

Surely that's the point of a resource like that, to learn about something you didn't know about...if I knew about everything on there I wouldn't bother. I'd be brilliant at a pub quiz though.

Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one and they all stink.

Isn't there a 40k wiki now? I was blocked in Red China last time I looked for it but it was definitely there.

Maybe it was decided with that individual entries on Wikipedia were redundant.
