Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

I went to the TI website and the rooms have gone down to $139 a night for Friday, and Saturday night. So if you booked at the GW rate of $199 you might want to change your reservation. But if you do, you need to e-mail Chris Gohlinghorst chris.gohlinghorst@games-workshop.com and tell him that you changed from the GW rate to the regular rate so that GW gets credit for the room.

The second item is that Dave Taylor has some information about those on the waiting list.

We have only a few days (9 in all) before the Las Vegas Grand Tournament 08 kicks off at the Treasure Island Hotel! It has been very exciting preparing for the event, and we know that over 250 of you are very excited too.

We are opening registration in the Treasure Island Ballroom from 12 noon on Friday until 8pm. We will be opening it again on Saturday morning from 8am until 9am when the dice start rolling.

We also know that sometimes even the best laid plans go awry and people are unable to make the trip. If this is the case with you, please send an email to dave.taylor at games-workshop.com as soon as you know you can’t make it.

Waiting List People

We currently have quite a few people on waiting lists who are already heading to Las Vegas anyway. The way we will handle their possible registration is this:

1. Those ticket holders NOT REGISTERED by 8:30 am on Saturday, September 6th will be assumed to be not attending the event.
2. We will begin selling those unattended slots to those on the waiting lists
3. We will sell them in order of waiting list priority, ie. if you are first on the waiting list you will be the first offered the unattended slot.

So, if you are a Ticket Holder, please register BEFORE 8:30am on Saturday (we have 8 hours of registration on Friday afternoon). If you are on the waiting list, please ensure you are at the Treasure Island Ballroom by 8:30am at the very latest. Unattended slots will then be sold.

Hopefully that clears everything up, particularly for those on the waiting list, and please feel free to post this on any and all forums frequented by those attending the Las Vegas GT 08.

Cheers

Dave Taylor

Heheheh. Even GW hotel rates are higher than everyone else's.

Maybe it's the growing cost of room service in the current economic climate?

I did get a chuckle out of that. Cue the GW haters in 3... 2... 1...

It really has nothing to do with GW, but the hospitality industry.

When GW announced the price of the hotel room, it was a lot less then the normal TI room rate. What happens is when it gets closer to check in the hotel checks their occupancy and either raises or lowers there price accordingly. They seem to have plenty of rooms left, so they lowered the room rate.

If there was a large convention, the WSOP, or a high demand event in town, the $199 price that they locked in would have sounded really nice.

Meh. All I know is, stjohn70 owns even that lower rate with the awesome deal he got for the 4 of us.

I'm still hopeful when we get there that the room does actually come with a stripper, because for the price we aren't paying I sure can afford one! lol

This.

(Unfortunately, I bought my room + flights as part of a Travelocity "package." I don't know if I can get that adjusted...but it's worth a phone call to find out.)

Lesson of the week: don't book travel packages.

I did manage to extract myself from the package "deal" I had from Travelocity, and snagged a $119/night rate from TI; Blackmoor found a $109/night rate. Looks like it's gone *up* since this morning, but rates are currently at $129/night.

Email from GW:

Hello everyone,

If you booked directly through Treasure Island for your hotel room
and asked for the Games Workshop group rate, we'd like you to know
that upon check-in that group rate will be lowered to match
advertised prices on the website, which are currently lower than we
originally signed the contract for.

At the moment, this is looking to average out to about a $50 savings
per night.

Hotel rates have been on a roller coaster ride in Vegas the past few
weeks and the Treasure Island hotel has thanked everyone for their
patience during this time.

See you all in a few days!

Chris

Since I won't be able to play this weekend, I will take as many pictures as my camera's batteries (and Dave Taylor ) will let me!
