Alright, I know I'm not telling anyone anything new, but MTV is a load of rubbish. I know how that knocked around a few years ago, back when it was 'cool' to say it sucked, but really it just stopped being original. Now it's evil. I hadn't, uh, 'tuned in' for a good few years...
I repair computers at random people's houses - gives you a good perspective of how few people even know what Games Workshop is. I had to reinstall an OS... sitting in a room with a couple of ninety-kilo teenagers and MTV blasting full volume. Outside a small white dog scraped against the balcony door, unheard over the din. At you point he yelped, and actually got a reaction from what I presumed was a girl - "Shut up!"
The show was about... I don't even know. Nevermind. This is the off-topic forum after all.
Ahem. I was a teenager just a couple of years ago, and nothing on TV was that basically depraved. South Park is mild compared to raw exposure to... whatever MTV is. It's really kicked the back of my head. I mean, South Park isn't even vaguely offensive as far as I'm concerned.

Seriously. This is literally 20 years ago. MTV was cool for about 4-5 years, mediocre for a few more, and then it went into the tank literally FIFTEEN YEARS ago.
Funnily enough, now it's everything it railed against when it was started.

I picked up a TV that one of my friends was going to throw away a few years back. It sat around in my living room for about a year and a half before I gave it away to another friend of my. I have to assume it worked because I never even plugged it in while I had it.

MTV has been crap since late eighties. It is just a promotion tool for the music industry to get folks to care about their cookie cutter artists, and the flavor of cool this week. I was traveling for work a couple years ago, and got into my hotel room really late, and MTV was one of the few channels that I had available. So, I gave it another shot. I couldn't believe what I was watching. Even the videos were stupid. What a waste of electrons, and time. Bubble gum for the brain.

I remember Celebrity Deathmatch and Beavis and Butthead.
And seeing some decent music videos there - but given what goes for music these days I can hardly blame them. I mean, before it became whatever it is today, all that passed as music there was either hip-hop/rap (not all of it bad, but 90% of their clips were composed of their cribs, some PS2, some PSP, some SUV, and the "meat"/half-nude chicks), Britney or some new crappy pop/teen angst/emo musics.
I'm surprised people even see them. Then again, people watch RAW.

I think it's pretty much run by the likes of Paris Hilton. Sky in the UK is pretty bad for music. What feels like 57,000,000 HipHop channels, and the only rock ones play idiotic Hardcore tripe.
Not one decent Indie Channel remains. Still, I will always have fond memories of the all too short lived P-Rock TV. 24 hour Punk Channels rule!
