just been told by a friend that the psycannon on a standard grey knight is the same profile as the one on the dread, is this true?
i was thinking it should be a ittle stronger since ow many standard marines can carry dread weps?
just doesent see right, but im getting the impression it is. :(

you would think the dread has a stronger variation of the psycannon, look at the size of the one on the FW dread compared to the standard one.
how many standard marines are able to use a drea wep?
i can just see a marine carrying a TL lascannon about

its just not the bet "heavy" weapon there is, might aswell go with TL heavy bolters.

The psycannon is better than TL heavy bolters. Besides, you should have las cannons on the dread anyway.

There actually is a difference.

A GK in PA only has an 18" range if they move, 36" if stationary. Dreads and Terminators get 36" in either case. The PC on the dreadnaught is for fluff. You can easily take as many PC's in your squads as needed. Use the dread for twin linked lascannon.

I generally leave the psicannon on my FW dreads when on display, and swap out for other weapons when I go play.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

I cannot even remember playing against a psycannon toting dread, ever. All GK dreads that I have faced have come in either TL LAs + ML flavor or Assault cannon +CCW flavor.

i dont generally make a dread for use, mainly for show, why the lascannon though? ill be using 2 dreads and a LR, so 1 dread and the LR act as anti tank, i like to keep a certain element of fluff in an army

and if i use GK's with my marines then i wont be taking a GK dread as such, ill use my GK dread but as use as a normal dread.

Yes, the Psycannon sucks as a Dread weapon.

FW aren't known for writing good rules, only making pretty and miscast models. And shipping delays. And rude E-mails. And outrageous prices.

But mostly for pretty models.

I LOVE FW stuff, but I only buy it from my local Battlebunker. Sure, it is expensive, but it looks so cool.

When I play my GK's, I play them as pure GK's. That list is very thin on anti tank, So I load up on las cannons on all 3 dreads that I field with my GK's.

since im fielding with my iron hands its easy enough as my tac squads have a meltagun, missile laucher and a plasma pistol.
so anti-tank isnt a prob.

I'm using a Psycannon Dread with my Grey Knights, but that's because I've built the army specifically to counter the Daemon codex, and Psycannons rip the spine out of Daemonic units where a TLLC would bounce, and if the Dread's blessed it's still capable of punching holes in a Soulgrinder. Second Dread's got TLLC, but that's mainly because I know I'll have to knock down soulgrinders, and the LCs are better at that particular job..

thanks feor, might use that idea, 1 with psy and 2 with TLL's, and since daemons are a fairly new release plenty of people use them.

The main reason people buy FW stuff is because the models are cool - the rules are generally secondary.

The few DH players I know who have a PsyC arm for their dreads do it for a display model, or for fluff purposes, not for complete battlefield superiority or combat effectiveness. Then again, there are players who build their armies around these choices, too (what looks cool, as opposed to how 'effective' statistical probability says it should be.).

Yes, against daemons, it's superior to a HB or Lascannon. It's meant to be. It's good that at least one piece of hardware is still useful against them, since most of the anti-daemon GK special rules are now meaningless and./or useless.

i know, thier weps are still of some use.
and i care little about thier use, all about look, when playing a tourney ill use the TLL, but in a friendly game or against daemons ill ue it.

I'd say that overall a psycannon is superior to a HB period. Str 6, AP4, and can be an assault weapon in a standard GK's hands.

In terms of mounting them on Dreadnought, while the TLLC is the better overall choice for GKs due to lack of anti-tank firepower, a Psycannon is no worse than a TLHB IMHO, since a Psycannon costs exactly as many points as a HB with Psycannon bolts, plus it's 1 strength higher. The only reason the TLHB is equal would be that if you've got a stormbolter on your dread, it can also benefit from the psycannon bolts.

i just find the psycannon looks better, functions well as anti troop, and fits in better fluff wise.
