No mandatory evac in Houston north. Storm has finally hit here, wind and rain. Just going to cuddlle up with my toys and ride the storm out! Probably going to lose power in the next hour, so talk at you Dakkaites in the next few days, thanks for the well-wishes.

Still here, bro. Power is out across the street, I must be on a strong grid. Eye wall is due to hit within the hour. Lots of wind and rain and stepped out on the portch and saw lightning. I'm in North Houston around the shop Little Wars, not down by Galveston; but it's getting nasty here. Lights are flickering, but still doing good. If we're still here, send me a PM and we'll have a beer!

edit: 3am CST and still here. Eye made landfall in Galveston about an hour ago, but now we're getting it here in Houston. We'll get a break when the eye gets here, but the backside of the storm is supposed to be worse.

I'm watching the storm coverage on Fox News. Ike is a monster, 9am Houston time and the winds are still 90+mph.

Grog may not have power in his neck of the woods.

We lost power at around 1:00am Saturday morning. Still no power at this time. I'm staying at my brother-in-law's place about a mile away. He got power back by Saturday afternoon. Go figure.

Luckily the cold front moved in and it's much cooler now.

Still here. Went into the shop, as I don't have Internet at home. Have power, water and satellite. Galveston and the surrounding areas are flattened, and Houston is a mess, but things are slowly getting cleaned up.

Lost power aound 315am sat morning. The pub I go to had power, football, a/c and cold beer so ended up hanging out there all day; but when I got back home the power was back on so got a hot shower and went to bed.

Nothing going on at work, so I think I'll head back and paint some figs and watch the news. Thanks for all the well wishes, I don't have anything to complain about, lots of folks down here that lost everything.

At point of writing, still 1.5MM Centerpoint and 400M Entergy customers without power. Drove into downtown. You can see the damage get progressively worse. Chase tower and building next to it thrashed - looks like a tornado popped it. Pictures look like Galveston and coast obliterated. Showed Kemah as smashed up. My Landrys is gone.

Inquisitor Bob you were an nutjob for riding it out down there. Next time we have room at the inn in Austin.

The question jfraz: When you evac'ed, which army did you bring with you?

None. Took pics and other things for mom out. Ok I did have some of my demons in Austin (on so many levels) and some guard. Ironically I had brought the eldar back from Austin for a game that was suspended on account of Ike.

Good to hear that everyone is ok. My deepest sympathies to those who aren't. Buddy of mine lost his house completely; tree axed it down there. Looks like my trip to Houston has been delayed until this coming Monday. I'll update as we close to that day, but I'll meet any of you at the Fox and Hounds on Westheimer for beer. I prob. owe some of you money for orcs anyway.
