Right, in for a penny, in for a pound.

In my attempts to have a Warhammer Fantasy Board to die for, I currently own a Fortified Manor, Chapel, Watch Tower and a Citadel Wood, plus far more walls and fences than I possibly know what to do with.

I also now intend to treat GW, sorry, treat myself to one of those £150 board things (I'd committed to buying one before the jump, and I have done really well at work, so I get it with my bonus). Plus I think I will need Hills and that to boot, because it seems like a good idea.

But the one thing that keeps on winking at me are the pieces of Fantasy terrain that Forgeworld have produced. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/QUATERMASTERS_STORE_WARHAMMER_TERRAIN_8.html Seen here.

Now, some it isn't badly priced at all, like the Bloomery and Well. Shrine is a bit much and I don't think I'll bother with that 'un.

Main question though, is a) Has anyone else bought these b) What was the casting like on them?

I'm happy to do a little clearing up, as it gives me something to do, but mainly on the bigger pieces, I don't want to be spending hour upon hour just prepping the sod for assembly.

So, thoughts and opinions on these bad boys if please! Oh, and also, the Road sections. Do you reckon, that suitably painted with a liberal application of Wet Stuff, that they'd make decent Rivers? Or can someone link me to a site that sells Rivers? I want a lot of variety on my board, to keep my opponents coming back time and again, and to allow campaigning in specific areas (Bridges, Watch Towers and the like, things that are of strategic value.)

For a second I thought I had hit the Civ forums by mistake.

BTW, I think you're better off modeling the rivers yourself.

My buddy has the Chapel. We use it often.

The term "Tha Shiznit" comes to mind.
It's a GREAT piece.

We use it for 40K, because that's all we play.
He has a 2ed metal Termie, painted like bronze statuary, mounted on the inside where the water comes out of the spring. It looks like the water's coming out from under him. It looks really good.

That "Coaching Inn" looks dang nice, too.

The Chaos temple will be mine.
"Oh, yes. She will be mine."

When I worked at the Potomac Mills GW store, we have a few of those pieces, The Graveyard Set, Ruined Chaos Temple, Orc Totem, Ruined Pillars, Tomb and Altar, and the Warhammer Lanes..

After the initial cleaning/prep work, they were a great deal of fun to paint. We even let the manager, who couldn't paint to save his life, have a go at them, and only had to correct him a few times.. lol

IIRC the was only some minimal flash on the Totem and Graveyard Set.. I wish I could tell you what happened to those pieces as the past few times I went by there, I no longer see them in the store..

One should really watch making a post with the title Cottaging in this day and age...

Cottaging is a gay slang term referring to anonymous male-male sex in a public lavatory (a cottage or tea-room), or to the practice of cruising for sexual partners in public lavatories with the intention of having sex elsewhere.

I've got the "Warhammer Well". It is a lovely piece, and at £12 wasn't badly priced at all! (And you know what a penny-pincher I am!)

The resin fantasy buildings in general seem to be fairly priced compared to generic resin fantasy buildings from elsewhere.

Another site that might inspire you to part with your bonus is: http://www.ebobminiatures.com/products/buildings.htm

Some nice generic fantasy buildings there, although of course they don't have that "Warhammer" touch to them - but you could always stick some skulls on if you wanted...

Yarr.

Right, I think I will be placing an order for the more villagery pieces. The Inn, whilst absolutely gorgeous, I think is a luxury of luxuries. After all, I do have the Fortified Manor already.

I think the Stables, Forge, Well, Bloomery and Cottage or Three are what the Doc is going to order....

£111 isn't all that bad, not considering 1) It's resin 2) It's Forgeworld 3) It's more than enough for a 6x4 board and finally 4) It means I can have recognisable locations for a campaign.

I think Camden will have to wait until next month like, but meh!

OH, and if these guys deliver to the UK, I'll have some cheapy Rivers as well. Yays! http://usacomicbooks.stores.yahoo.net/info.html
