Ok, this is a (fairly quick) game me and my friend had, and I thought I'd try my hand at writing up a battle report. He also posts here (thekyle1231), so maybe he will be able to shed some insight into his tactics and decisions, though I will try to cover them, as we had a lengthy post-game discussion.
So, I have my friend's Chaos Space Marine army as opposed to my normal orks, trying to test out some new stuff. My friend has his Necrons.
Chaos Space Marine List:
HQ:
Sorcerer with
MoT, doombolt, and personal icon
5 Terminators with 5 combi-melta
10
CSM with a lascannon
20
CSM with a Aspiring Champion with a Power Fist, a flamer, and an Icon of Tzeentch
20 Korne Bezerkers, Skull Champion with a Fist
8
TS, Aspiring Sorcerer with Bolt of Change
5 Havocs with 2 Heavy Bolters
Necron List:
HQ:
Nightbringer
Lord with Orb + Veil of Darkness
8 Immortals
3x10 Warriors
10 Scarabs
1 Tomb Spider
1 Monolith
Going into this, I am not really liking the outcome, as I have very little that can damage his Nightbringer, and, to a lesser extent, Monolith (as in I don't mind it blowing the

out of me). I'm not very hopeful for a phase out, as I know that he will have the Nightbringer in the middle of the battle line, trying to dissuade a charge.
So, this is the table:
We get Capture and Control (1 objective in each deployment zone), and Spearhead.
He wins roll of for first deployment/turn and takes it, claiming the bottom left corner (from the previous picture). His deployment. Note that his objective is in the biulding, with a squad of 10 Warriors holding it.
I deploy, hopefully far enough back to stay out of range of most of his weapons for first turn. Terminators are going to deep strike.
Necron Turn 1:
He moves everything up a little, and turbo-boosts his scarabs for a 2+ cover save (they are swarms, get stealth). Some shooting happens, a couple
TS die.
CSM Turn 1:
My turn, I move stuff up to counter scarabs, break
HQ sorcerer off into squad of 20
CSM, shoot a lot with bolt pistols and do nothing. I think I only gave him about 5 saves with (I think) 23 shots, and he passed all of the 2+ saves he needed. Other stuff shoots elsewhere, does nothing (mainly miss). I charge with squad of 20
CSM and Sorc, kill off all but 2, while he kills 2, after all is said and done. End of my turn:
Necron Turn 2:
He moves most of his army up, but tries to keep his Nightbringer out of charge range. With shooting, he Particle Whips the
TS, leaving 2 guys, the Sorc and a
TS. Immortals shoot at them, take 12 saves. 4/6 fail on the
TS, all passed on the Sorc... then the warrior squad that was standing still takes him down.
In combat, I finish off his scarabs before they get a chance to attack, and massacre 5 inches.
CSM Turn 2:
Korne Bezerkers don't advance much, trying to get the charge off on the nightbringer, as then the standard guys can damage him on 6s. Squad of 20 goes over to try to swat down the monolith with the powerfist (see that I'm an ork? Thats how things get done round here), while the Sorc breaks off to assault the immortals. Shooting does nothing, or at least close to it. Powerfist does nothing to monolith. Sorc is able to kill 3 immortals with his 5 attacks, despite needing 5s to wound. Immortals proceed to fail moral and get run down by the Sorcerer.
Necron Turn 3:
Around here I started loosing diligence with my picture taking... please stand by.
I'd say this turn was where things really went from bad to worse. First, he used veil of darkness to teleport behind enemy lines, while barely staying on the table:
He moved his nightbringer back to eat my sorcerer for breakfast, and moved his warriors up to get into rapid fire range of my
CSM squad of 20 that had charged his monolith. Monolith gets out of the way.
In shooting, his Monolith Particle Whipped the
CSM that charged it last turn, and was able to get a hit on the scatter die
Some large amount of
CSM died, I think it was 7. Then I remebered they are
CSM, not orks, and got worried... Anyway, I think it was when warriors were rapid firing the survivors of that that this happened:
It is a textured table, but still, really?
Some more
CSM died, pass their moral check. The Necrons that Veil of darkness rapid fire at the Havoc squad (everybody has range by a hair), and 4 die out of (I think) 6 saves. Then the last guy fails his moral.

Nightbringer assaults Sorc, and I can't even damage it. Bye bye Sorc.
CSM Turn 3:
I decide not to go for the Warriors in the back, as I won't be able to do anything this turn, and they would just veil away if they were threatened. 10 man squad sits still, Korne Bezerkers move up a little. Whats left of the 20 man squad goes around the Nightbringer to charge the Warrior squad behind him. A couple warriors die in that assault, a couple die in the back from 10 man squad shooting at them. Assaults hold.
Necron Turn 4:
Warriors by nightbringer get pulled out by monolith, the only guy still dead is the one that died from the powerfist. Warriors in the back field move up a little to rapid fire my 10 man squad. Nightbringer moves down, away from the remnants of the
CSM squad, into charge range of the korne bezerkers.
In shooting, Warriors rapid fire, some
CSM die, nothing very important.
CSM Turn 4:
My terminators finally come in from reserves. I decide not to risk a bad scatter in put them near the Icon of the remants of the 20 man
CSM squad, so they come down right next to the Nightbringer. Korne Bezerkers move up to charge the Nightbringer, squad of 10 with lascannon is able to assault the warriors in the back, so they go to do so. The survivors of the 20 man squad move down to assault the warriors who just ran away.
The terminators all unleash their combi-meltas at the nightbringer, for a grand total of 1 passed invulnerable save.
CSM plink away at warriors, some die. Assaults happen: Bezerkers on Nightbringer, remnants on warriors near monolith, squad of 10 on warriors in backfield. Bezerkers do NOTHING on Nightbringer, not even an invulnerable to make, and I had about 9 guys attacking. He takes out a couple back, and maybe an extra on a fearless save. Not much important happens in the warrior assaults, a couple go down on each side, combat holds.
OMG a picture!
Necron Turn 5:
Necrons monolith out near the middle, veil of darkness out on the edge. Bunch of shooting happens, I don't think anything goes down (about 12 passed terminator saves). Tomb spider charges into the combat with korne bezerkers and monolith (probably the worst mistake of the game). Bezerkers kill quite 3 scarab bases, fist does nothing to the nightbringer, nightbringer kills 4 bezerkers. I won by 5, so he has to make 5 fearless saves on his tomb spider unit (lost a scarab swarm) and 5 fearless saves on the nightbringer. Passes 4...

.
CSM Turn 5:
Squad on the side (2 guys left) move up towards the squad that veiled out and rapid fires them. Nothing really happens. Terminators and remnants of squad charge warriors, wipe them out without even needing to sweeping advance. Fist still does nothing to nightbringer. Squad of bezerkers is starting to look a little small.
Roll to end it, keeps on going.
Necron Turn 6:
Warriors move to secure my objective, lord goes over and finishes off my 2 guys. Terminators get particle whipped, loose 3 guys out of 4 saves and and invul... Oh well, not like I will win at this point anyway, and I got lucky the last turn of 12 saves. Loose all but the flamer in the other squad, I think my bezerkers died in this round.
CSM Turn 6:
I move my... 4 models around, don't do anything.
Roll to keep going... add insult to injury.
Necron Turn 7:
Nightbringer charges terminators, warriors in the building take out the last
CSM, I am tabled.
Yea, I think the problem began with my list. I didn't have anything he was scared of, I was scared of his Nightbringer and (kinda) Monolith. I didn't have the shooting or mobility to go around either of them to go for a phase out, so I lost. Not rolling well didn't help.
