What is the biggest pointsink or most expensive unit ( SC/IC + squad + transport) in 40k ?

My suggest:

Chapter master + artificer armor+aux grenades+relic blade+hellfire rounds+digiweapons+stormbolter = 218
Vulkan Hestan = 190
Techmarine + thunderhammer+stormbolter =88 + 3 servitors (2xplasmacannon) = 90
Honorguard + champ with thunderhammer +digiweapons+ 9x relic blade+ 10x aux grenades+chapter banner = 695
Land Raider crusader + Multimelta+stormbolter+HK-missile = 280
Upgrade with Chronus= 70

sums up to 1631

could exchange hestan for tigurius => 1661

Have 16 models (= 1:100) in a Tank at the price of an army.

I would be a model over for the transporting though; the killkannon puts it at 12 max, and Ghazzie counts as 2 because of his mega armor.

Unless they don't actually have to fit in their transport....

I still want to see what the Space Wolves got. I know they have their whole "Wolf Guard" thing.

a 10 Man vanguard w/ Thunderhammer, jump packs , Stormshields, and melta bombs is 70 points a model. I think you can also give them plasma pistols.

Nah - Witchhunters Inquisitor only 975 points, and that's with a Land Raider and St Celestine. Not even close. I can get Eldar to 1073 (Farseer, Autarch and Seer Council on Jetbikes)

A fully specc'ed O'Shovah & Bodyguard comes to 1581. Ironic, in that he can only be taken in armies of 1500 points or more, and he alone can provide the points... You can get another HQ to join, which takes his unit up to 1814.

IG HQ - the most I can get is 1743, but that isn't fielded as a single unit. 45 models plus 4 vehicles probably makes it the largest single FOC choice, though! Since you can field a legal army for only another 100 points, this makes the IG HQ the largest proportional point sink of any army (95% of the army's points are HQ!)

If you add Commissar Yarrick to the HQ squad you get a mighty 1889.

EDIT: Forgot about Doctrines. You need 1 for the Special Weapon Squads, leaving me free to take Die Hards, Hardened Fighters, Carapace Armour and Cyber Enhancement, costing a total of 550, taking the HQ to a whopping 2439.

I must say that a single FOC unit pointssink must be either the ork nobs with all PK and a few combiskorchas in a fully equiped battlewagon. (Does need the obligatory painboy, so that unit costs slightly less then maximum )

Might want to redefine pointssink. Ie do you mean most costed Single FOC-entry, or do you mean most expensive single unit on the battlefield (Dont know if a battlewagon from heavy support would count then...)

Does anyone even use units that cost more then 1/3 of the points for a battle (ie if playing 1500 more then 500 points??)outside of apocalypse??

I pretty sure in the old craftworld codex there was no limit to the number of warlocks the seer council could have. Five decked out farseers with infinity number warlocks would probably be the trumps all point sink unit - it was just a shame you couldn't give them jetbikes

Don't have the codex on me but a fully equipped Daemon Prince of Tzeentch could be around 300- 350. With 60 points for wings they don't give out those upgrades cheaply.

The codex says 1-3 per cluster. One cluster per FOC slot. And it says they are Fast Attack. Am I missing something, here?

space wolves has to be more given each wolf gaurd has to buy a seperate powerfist and storm bolter in addition to their termator armour. add in to that they can each take a rediculous amount of upgrades, wolf pelts, wolf tooth necklaces, et.. etc..., quite a lot of the upgrades don't do anything any more which think is the definition of a point sink....

Yeah, but in the new CSM Codex you can field infinity points of Chaos Spawn in zero FA slots. And they all SUCK too!
