Well, today's the big day, what's your forecast for the outcome?

The polls show Obama well ahead and I believe this reflects widespread dissatisfaction with the current president's performance on several big issues. Since McCain is also Republican this naturally affects him.

Against that, there is a solid core of right-wing voters and the race factor will, I believe, put a brake on a runaway Obama.

for the good of the country i hope McCain is elected... i dont agree with a lot of what he says, but there needs to be a balance of power in the government.

if obama wins then....
the demos have white house
the demos have congress
the demos have senate

all of that = bad idea..

top that off with at least 1, and mabey 2 new judges being slaped in (dont give me that "he will not base it on polatics" crap... we all konw he will pick very librial demos) and "We the People" are in for a very bumby ride.....

o well, i allready got 2 blood bowl teams, a WHF army, a FoW german army, an evil LOTR army, menoth, khador, loads of tau, and nids....... most all of which is unpainted so looks like ill be ok

Considering the Republicans held all 3 branches of the government from 2000-2006 and more or less made complete fools of themselves, do you really think the Democrats can do worse? Or is it only ok when the guys YOU agree with have all the power?

Surely it can't a bad idea for the will of the people as expressed in democratic elections to appoint their representatives to government?

The USA has elections every two years for the Senate and for other positions -- I don't know about the House of Reps. This system was invented to prevent the tyranny of a single party from lasting for two long.

so no. i think that one party should hold 2 branches, while the other holds the 3rd. yes, not as much gets done this way. but they end up not making complete fools of themselves (or at least not as bad) and dont pass things that really shouldent be passed.

Having control of all 3 branches doesn't mean much if you don't control 60 seats on the Senate to prevent a filibuster, which I can assure you will be happening if the minority group has the guts to do so(re not the current Democrat Senate).

Don't forget the third branch of government, our courts and legal system. With eight years of Bush appointed judges, the courts will lean conservative for a few years to come.

Dakkadakka is obviously a good polling sample - our results are almost exactly what zogby's getting....

I wanna know what the 2 people who voted McCain landslide are smoking; that must be some good stuff! He could pull off a win, but a landslide is out of range in this political climate.

well. in the case where the 2nd ammendment was upheld, the judges only got it right by 1 vote.... if obama get some more libirial judges in there, you realy think the 2nd amend with stand??

Not if you are in the UK, no. If you are a citizen of the US, yes. Not the carrying part, but the right to own them. You don't actually have to carry it around at all.

Honestly, I don't think it will matter, at least not at the Federal level. It isn't smart politics. More likely, any challenge you see will originate at the state level. Especially in states dominated by urban locales, like Illinois, push through super strict ownership requirements.

Actually, it is usually the only issue that matters to me in an election. I don't shoot much anymore, so that one is pretty much over for me now. That needs to be the Democrat's new campaign slogan..." You can't afford to go shoot anymore. Vote Blue".

It was the only issue I voted on in this election, and I am sure that the next time some nut job shoots up something federal legislation will come screaming down the pike. After all..."do it for the CHILDREN!!!" will be the new rallying cry.
