Hi guys, I enjoy dakka a lot. And now I want to start a blog… A black templar blog! I hope I can finish my templars this way. First of all I’m not a great painter. And I would love to improve my skills. Thanks and here are the first pics.

Pretty nice blag so far, although I feel that the tanks need something more, they're too black. Maybe a couple logos of some sort? They need something on top.

Looks pretty good though. I might also recommend gloss varnish for the marines, a guy did that with BT at my FLGS and it looked great.

"That is THEIR stuff." "THEY'RE crappy converters."
"I put it over THERE." "I'll go to the store THEN."
"He knows better THAN that." "This is NEW." "Most players KNEW that."

Nice start. Put a thin layer of GW wash over things and they'll look better. Especially the metallics.

Not bad, not bad at all, in fact.

Nice work, but, (as is the commenest advice) get some washes! It will help define the skin, and the tabards in particular. The metallics also could do with a wash.

Good stuff.

"And what is wrong with their life? What on earth is less reprehensible than the life of the Levovs?"
- American Pastoral, Philip Roth

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

Thanks guys, these comments are very much appreciated and give me a good boost! So I'll try some washes.
The next things I want to do is my vindi and my forgeworld dread.
Doh,so much to do and so little time...

I like wat you've got, nice painting, have you ever thought of adding writting to the shoulder pads? It would give it an even sweeter looking affect to the army. But great job anyway.

I am liking them. Black is hard to make look good and they are looking pretty snazzy as they are. I also agree about the washes, but my 2 cents I would like to throw in is maybe a hint of higlighting on the top edges of the knee pads, and such? I have seen it done before and it really makes them "pop" from a distance where as you would normally just see black. Just my 2 cents and they look good as they are.

So, I was thinking about my assault marines. And I don't think I gonna use them anymore...
And after reading through the new marines codex. I was amazed how nice a white scars army looks. So, I had to paint some of those. I picked up 5 assault buddies and painted them. Now I've almost two of them done...

I really enjoyed painting those. So mabye after my BT...

Cheers!

It's work a lot easier to paint white off a white primer. Right now it looks kind of blotchy, so i'm assuming you went from black to white? I'm sure they'll look much crisper after some practice with white and not going through the nightmare of black->white.

Ooh, I see you added a White Scar, uber cool. The White Scars are my favorite Loyalist Chapter.

@Faux Pas: You're right I should use a White primer instead of the grey one I used on those two...

@ The Thousandth Son: I love the white scars, but it's a quite expensive army.

So, thanks guys for the comments!

great painting jupiter. the only things i suggest are

washes

with the emperor's champion's tabard, start from codex grey and work outwards, adding white to the grey on a pallete at every stage and applying it in thin layers. woirk this up to eventually pure white and you will have a beautifully shaded tabard.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

@lord marcus: Thanks for the tips mate! I find it difficult to paint white and I have actually never lay down some shading...

So, a small update. I finished my vindi.

Cheers!

So, here are some pics of a battle. It was against marines. His army included 3 dread... But only one made it in combat
The mission was to capture each others objective. It was a fun game and it ended in a tie.

Here are the pics...

Next time I will try to make a proper report....
