Well sort of new.

It should look and feel the same, but they are making some changes to the way that they present the information to us, and also they moved to a new server as of monday, and I for one am thrilled because that think was God awfull slow!

And apparently the UK and US site will be some what merged or linked. I did here the user database will be the same one, dont know if that means that certian things like news feeds and product discriptions all get pulled from the same source, and just the price and geo-area info is different?

but they say the site should go faster, and thats all i care about... every time you call me and ask if some appocalypse formation is available - its the "hour glass of doom" as i look it up, and hoefully that will be fixed.

Michael

I hope they will change the look and feel. Every time I go on there I waste clicks finding where I need to go.

I feel like a blind mouse trying to find a piece of cheese with my nose plugged. The GW website is about as intuitive as an amphibious vehicle with no bouyancy

Really? I find it much more intuitive and it's a hell of a lot easier to find exactly what I'm looking for.

The only issue I had with it was the speed but from a cursory look it seems that has improved.

I think the current site rocks. Never had a problem with it, things are pretty easy to find, and definitely not slow for me.

Aside from the fact that they removed alot of the good stuff and made the site just an online version of White Dwarf, I'm not a real fan of the " improvements".

1. Lack of online GW goodies- Army painter, campaign materials, SG downloads, Army builder Interface addentiums, Black Gobbo modeling and painting stuff

2. stuffy !@#$ feelings of a dentist office website

3. SLOW SLOW SLOW wait times for absolutly nothing worth waiting for

The references are gimped more then any other part of the site. Used to have some good stuff in there, now there's nothing of note, other then the urge to go to TMP, Dakka, or other sites worth the time to sit around waiting for the load time.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Hopefully they'll offer something for the Rest of the World.

An international shop/club/player database or message board would be great.

For those outside GW's traditional markets it's downright impossible to find a game, even in the same city.

Gah, the site is God-awful. Virtually breaks my PC everytime I go on it and is ridiculously slow, with an idiot-amount of drop-down menus that are entirely pointless. It groans under bad planning.

Yes, new site is a bit more of a shop, rather than a hobby site. It seems there's always something saying buy me, buy me, buy me. That said, I'm getting used to finding what I want and I can easily ignore the adverts.

I don't know what sit eBig toof is at , but my personal feelings lie with those of GROT 6's

In other news, A sales manager told me (as I have complained about this in a joking manner about 276 times with him) that the products will soon be either individually labled or catagorized as such so that the general public will know what items are direct only and what items are "trade" or standard stock.

This is a big deal for me especially as i spend time everyday responding to a dozen or so emails, and voicemails about requested orders by re: and saying "sorry, but did you know that items X,Y,Z were direct only?" (that means 15% off instead of 30% off) and then about 95% of the time the person does not even reply and never orders.

Crap to think about it i waste time defining what direct order even is...

Geez, im even wasting time ranting about it right now!

but yeah, I miss the "fluff features" of the old site too - like the GOBO thing they had and the big conversion articles, even if they were not the worlds most innovative things - they were still fun to check out.

guess we will have to see if things look different in a day or two, maybe monday morning i can get an progres update about the "new site" from an inside man working on it.

Forever alone

Still no new site for Oz then.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Good. With the amount of stuff no longer on the new site, I find myself having to access older ones to find what I'm looking for.

Fluff is dead and will in the next ten years be thrown away by GW. All you need to know is that there are space marines and some other armies that are not space marines. ANd they always fight.

Flashman nails it!

Good luck finding much relating to the "Games Workshop Hobby" as opposed to the "Games Workshop Bottom Line".

YES, I know GW is a business, but a bit more 'hobby' stuff would be appreciated...

Heh, their server upgrade is taking longer than they announced. I just hope they do a better job than those monkeys over at Forge World; they still have the notice up that they are upgrading servers..

Hmmm doesn't really look all that different, ads wise. They've always pushed things pretty heavily on their main site. The Black Gobbo was a bit of a fluke, and now it's gone. So back to these are the things we sell, buy something. I personally see anything more as a bit of a bonus, I expect to get the real useful info from the posters on sites like this one.

Well - I spoke to GW today, they had tons of problems with the site, and a HUGE error that even shut down direct services.

As of right now the site is on, and i can be happy about one thing. IT IS WAY FASTER!

still nothing actually changed though.

here is one thing that bugs the crap outta be for sure though.

say we want to search for:

Part Code: 99060101335 Space Marine Chaplain with Skull Helmet

here is the issue.

search for the code: 99060101335 = zero results.

however if we stock "CHAPLINS" we are given random blisters in packs of 2. so we need to stock 10 of them just to make sure we have all of them on hand.

so if somebody 100% for sure needs a specific one, say this skull helm one - we need to order this "long code" - 99060101335 , so why the heck doesnt it bring up the item?

meh; at least now that it is faster - I could just hit space marines and select it from the HQ list - and most people order several items off the same list so this is better in the long run anyhow.

*im crossing fingers on a DIRECT ONLY LABLE on items....sooner then later!

Somewhat offtopic/ontopic, you guys at Gorilla Tactics stock direct only (Reading from your post, it appears you do). If so..I was looking for two Demon Princes of Nurgle. I tried your site but was getting random errors. I'll stop the offtopic now and thanks.
