Fancy getting plastic miniatures for $1-2 a figure, but not a fan of any plastic sets currently out? Wargames factory has started a new program where they will let you describe a figure sprue, and if enough people buy into your description, they will produce the sprue. You need only 100 people ordering 1000 sprues in total. At approximately 4-8 figures per sprue, you can see that a single regiment, or a platoon would easily run 5-10 sprues, and you would not need too many more to get the wheels going. With Dakka Dakka and other platforms, you could easily push for more popular sets to be made. Plus, if your idea is selected, you get 10 free sprues, and $100 from WF.

Information here: http://www.wargamesfactory.com/league

Now for the negatives, Wargames Factory has a... mixed record so far with plastics production, producing only two of the three sets planned, and accepted pre-orders for the third, with as of yet no delivery. Also, the republican romans have had a mix review as well, with some comparing them to misshapen hunks of plastic, and others suggest they are ill proportioned

Still, all in all this could be a chance for you to get that plastic squad of motorbike riding Canadian Infantry with optional very large laser guns and lances with explosive tips, or landsknecht infantry armed with pike. Suggestions so far have included a female Mordheim sprue, modern zombie sprue, modern weapons sprue, and 1802 Austrian Infantry amongst many others.

Personally, I am pretty excited to see what comes out of this.

Others suggest... what?!? Something too horrible to repeat?

Sounds like a potentially neat idea, though.

whoops, skipping around in the paragraph a bit too much. I meant to say that others suggest that they are ill proportioned.

I think a lot of the "ill-proportioned" opinions on the Romans is due to the tunics and armor.
They are meant to hang low and have a result of making them look stubby, or short legged.
If you look at historical pictures/paintings, you will notice this as well.
I have some of the British and they are proportioned fine.
I have seen some Romans in person painted and they look great ranked up with shield labels.

They seem to be a very small company that has underestimated the wargaming community's demand, but are really eager to please.

Yes, that is probably the case. Hopefully they are able to expand quickly enough to handle the demands of this new program. One of the suggestions, for French Old Guard, is already at 33% of the 100 people/1000 sprues order, so work may start soon on others. At 50% ordered, WF said that they would start posting concept work, but probably not as soon as the second day of their program...

I submitted 1920's pulp gangsters and WFRP adventurers myself, so hopefully they get listed and produced.

Jp400 here with Temp name.......

Id buy some 1920 gangsters so long as they come with Colt 1911's, Chicago Typewriters and pinstripe suites.

Also I just added 28mm Scale Soldiers based of the Cogs from Gears of War. I feel that the Warhammer 40k crowd would die over these as possible Space Marine Conversions.

Um, why do you need a temp name? Just log in as normal.

So 1000 sprues, each sprue costing $8 = $8k total revenue, roughly speaking?

OK if you look at whole models:
- 6 to 8 per sprue at $1 per fig, that would be something like Imperial Citizens / Frateris Militia, 8 per sprue. I could see that selling.
- 4 to 6 per sprue at $1.50 per fig would work for specialist Guard. Horweth's Ad Mech comes to mind here.
- 3 or 4 per sprue $2 Wraithguard would sell like crazy, but design copyright would be a huge problem!
- 1 per sprue could make an alternate-pattern Sentinel or Kan.

But if you don't need to do full models, just bodies and heads, you can go a *lot* farther:

For example, looking at Imperial Guard:
- WW1-style Trencher Guard
- Gasmask Longcoat Guard bodies with Pickelhaube heads.
- Airdrop Grav-Chute conversion packs.
If you do these as "upgrade" packs for the existing Cadian plastics to leverage Cadian arms and weapons, similar to how the Black Templars sprue works for Space Marine Tactical bodies, one could get 10-12 per sprue. Any takers on these?

I assume they plan to produce only those most viable. Like the Eureka miniatures 100/300 plans, they really only end up producing those which will sell to larger audiances.

I agree though that "advancing Robed and hooded techno-cyborg troopers with overscale arcane guns" would be a good submission.

And imperial civilians would sell like crazy. the only question is if "crazy" is enough to get these made.

I really would like to get into WW1 mini action, but do not like most of the metal produced. Would like to do a guard army with the same criteria as JohnhwangDD, So I figured I would kill the proverbial birds and I suggested WWI German Line Infantry with optional heads including gas mask. Get my Deutchland fix and guard fix in one

No doubt!

That would be nice, though they'd have to be careful not to even creep a little close to GW's IP on them.

Hello fellow gamers I saw this thread and I had to reply. Two Words for a submission - BLOOD PACT. Think about it you could have gas masks, spikes, german pot helmets and grotesques. They could work with pig iron minis and GW this could be the answer to peoples chaos militia. Right now the only options are forge world. I was discussing this with another miniature company but they were too busy. If you like the idea of mine send it in and lets see if we could get some proper khorne loving chaos troops to fight the emporer with.

Clearly what is needed is trenchcoat Germans, compatible with Citadel's Cadian line, with multiple head variants (gas masks, Valhallan-style hats, grotesques, German helmets, etc.).
