It's not particularly exciting news, but thought someone might be interested, if only as a sign that GW are obviously still looking at how existing products can be improved...

I noticed while unpacking my 30th (or thereabouts) Black Reach box today that they have started adding a couple of pre-drilled holes to the 40mm bases for the Termies and Warboss.

Which is a nice change. It was a little silly that clip-together models still required a drill to assemble them...

So it wasn't always that way?

The set I have had the holes in it, except for the Dread, annoyingly.

Hmmm... seems like something odd to forget. When they put the free BR Terminator in the White Dwarf issue, the base was drilled... I'll let you know about the bases on the multiple Terminator squads I've got inbound for conversions.

No holes on mine either. Then again my dreads are going on resin bases for another army.

I play...

Every set I've opened so far (at least two or three a week since it was released) has had regular 40mm bases. No holes. Today's was the first time I had seen this.

Mine didn't have any holes. I just rid myself of the clippers and glues them to the base, noob that I am.

DO the holes cost extra?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Alright, I got 3 squads of BR Terminators and a Dread in the mail today, and all 15 40mm bases are drilled EDIT: With TWO holes... I don't know when the guy I bought them from got his boxes, but all the bases I've got here are drilled... the Dread base is not drilled, as previously mentioned, even tho it has a peg to mount to the base molded into the foot.

Mine were not drilled in my first box, but I just got two more, so we shall see! I am sort of abivalent, but it is a nice touch for them at least.

I was glad it didn't come with a drilled hole, I ended up putting the feet way back on the base anyways.

Let me know when they barehead sargeant/captain come with their heads pre-removed. That was the biggest paint...

I mean seriously, put a helmet on man! You cost 115 points, keep that noggin safe!

Don't see how the no holes is a problem, took me all of three seconds to punch 'em with a Citidel round file.

I think it's more the "snap together" principle - it's a beginner's set; should be 100% simple to put together. No pinning, drilling, shaving, greenstuffing, or anything allowed.
