Has anyone heard anything on when the Tyranid codex is going to be updated? I realize that other armies (DE, IG, SW, Necron) are more in need of a fixed up codex, but I'm wondering if GW/staff have ever indicated the longer term plans for codex updates. I'm hoping for 2010 but have my doubts.

Question mark added to title.

Currently they 'Nid codex is still competitive, not to mention the models don't look dated like some of the other armies (DE, IG). I would say 2010 at the earliest.

Recently I saw info that someone saw them doing the very first brainstorming stages for the Tyranids at warhammer world.

So it's still a long way off but there may be one in the works.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

a certain poster at both warseer and warpshadow who has connections inside GW has posted:

"Well your dates are wrong but you're essentially correct. don't expect the nid codex for some time, all I've done is said it will be less than three years."

I have never seen this person post without concrete info.
also, its pretty much confirmed that GW wants to do plastic gargoyles when they redo the codex.

2010 at the earliest sounds right, it's probably not on the wings for a while. The codex is functional, just not that balanced. As much as I would love to see my favorite bugs get an update there are other armies that need it far more in order to become competitively useful again.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?

Nah it's a good thing. As Shummy said, they're a stable Codex right now and there are plenty of other armies that need a revision first.

When they do update the nid codex I do hope that they make palstic gargoyles, among other things. I like the idea of the unit but the metal gargoyles are not appealing and the unit data for the points cost needs to be changed.

Someone should cut and paste the standard rant about putting a question mark in the subject when, y'know you ask a question.

Other than that I just hope the next nid 'dex will have genestealer cults because they are simply the most awesome army evah!

Yes, it really is deplorable clicking on a thread to then find out it's not what I expected. Two seconds of my life, wasted!

The return of Genestealer Cults would indeed be very cool. I don't see why they wouldn't do it. The pyschic beacon effect of a Genestealer Cult is still part of the 'Nid fluff isn't it?

Anybody remember when they published rules for an Ork Freebooter band that was made up of Ork/Genestealer hybrids? I think it was in the first White Dwarf I ever bought! (ahem, showing my age now)
