A collective sharing of misery, this is how it works. You write of your worst experiences with dice, then tell of how you handled the situation(felt, reacted, what the opponents reaction was) and if you ever considered taking revenge revenge upon the vile cubes. I'll go first. In Siam(RISK) with seventeen armies and only one opposing army away from the win. My opponent rolling fairly beat me 16 consecutive times. 11 of which were 6s, 4 were5s, and I rolled a one the one time he rolled a 2. I wish I could say that I remained completely cool but to my chargrin I got hot to the point that my opponent noticed and I did voice a couple of "aaawww, come ons!!!!" . I apologized afterwards and he was good about it. Made a comment about the "dice gods" being angry which started me to refering to them from that point on whenever someone rolls under stat. These days when things like that happen I just tell the dice they're fired and if it continues it usually gets sillier.(Last time my opponent was in tears laughing when third turn in a row the broadsides missed, completely.) Your turn

The worst I probably got was during a league game that involved multiple ways
to unlock points. Well, I was getting beaten so badly and my opponent was taking
so long to figure out how to earn the next bonus points that I finally just said, "Maybe
you should just end it."
He did and we shook on it.

The game mentioned above happened while I was a teenager a quarter of a century ago. I only get silly if times not important. If the other player has a schedule or there is a time restriction, I stay focused so as to not inconvenience them.

I had a game of 40K, my berserkers and LatD against Tau, and my Havocs with four autocannons rolled 1's and 2's to hit all but two shots. Fortunately, the Berserkers and big mutants wiped the table with nearly everything else. I ended up losing half the Havocs to a combined assault from some Kroot and fire warriors. I switched dice three times during that game, and nothing helped so I'm pretty sure that it's my hands that are cursed, not the dice.

Best one actually wasn't mine but my opponents. Guy had no clue about my army (BA, and how fast they were under the 3rd edition insanity rules), and refused to listen when I told him that his forward-deployed concept was going to land him in hot water. I was polite, but he got all bent when I was half way through his battle line coming in from the far right flank.
He calls a battle cannon shot down onto my DC. I take a look at the POV from his Russ, and ther eis a plasma pistol that he can see form around a corner, and that is IT. I ask him if he's dropping hte shot on the pistol. He says yeah. It scatters, covering the entire DC. Then Mr. Fecalbrains starts talking even MORE gak as he picks up the 8 dice for the roll to wound. 8 one's later, I leave the table to keep from laughing in his face, and he's fastballing his minis into his case.

Playing necrons a few years back at at GT. Playing against an Iron warriors list-- old one with the 4 heavy slots. Anyway, through the benefits of nightfingting, veil of darkness and a monolith I've got pretty much point blank range to him, and have ripped big bloody holes in his army. Really just need to pop his vindicator and kill 1 oblit. to wrap things up nicely.
In total I fired 60+ shots at this vindcator, with a good 45+ hits. Didn't get one 6, on 40+ dice.
3 heavy destroyers at the oblit...... 3 hits.. no wounds.
His vindicator fires at my nicely clustered warriots kills them all, including my lord. His oblit. lascannons my monolith, pops it and the explosion wiped out the 12 or so warriors who'#d just "walked" through it. Phase out. Ah well. Stupid game anyway.

I had a league final game many years ago, using the old Ravening Hordes Warriors of Chaos list (pre-Hordes of Chaos!) against Empire. My opponent had a fairly balanced/shooty army with a steam tank. I tried hitting that Steamtank with two separate units of Knights with lances (10 S6 attacks each) and a unit of Dragon Ogres with great weapons. All of them failed their Fear/Terror tests; all of them were individually charged and destroyed by the stank. My Unbreakable Hero of Slaanesh on a horse died to an Irrestable Uranon’s Thunderbolt. I couldn’t get anything into combat that game. Everything that went near him died pathetically. My army was beaten by a single stank and one IF spell.
The dice weren’t as amazingly bizarre as some people’s stories; I've actually had games since with substantially more spectacular deviations from the statistical averages, but this game had to be the most frustrating I ever had. By the end of the game I had broken a few marauders and all of my Dragon Orgres in my fury. I'm much better now, though.

not my story per se, but anyway:
I deep strike in some terminators +a lord, right behind his lines. being only able to shoot, I shoot at his marines. I end up with 5 wounds. He has to make 3+ saves. He rolls 4 1's and a 2. His troops then fall back and off the table. I apologize for how badly I whomped the floor with him (prior to this, I killed 80% of his army in a 1400 point game... the only thing he had left at this point were terminators which I killed next round, and a bunch of scouts.)

On one turn in a recent tournament, I had a group of burnas (9) flame a chaos marine unit and bring it down to the powerfist sarge. I charged in, 24 attacks, no wounds. He swings back, nails one, I fail my Ld and he runs them down.
The next combat is a slugga boyz mob versus a rhino. Completely failed to scratch it, despite charging with a claw. Then over the way: two claws vs. a landraider, hitting on 4s and charging, not a scratch.
The next turn he wiped out 56 orks with shooting. If nothing else, it was a spectacle worth watching!

Our group has a die that is a cursed artifact(yes, it was mine). Must've been manufaturing flaw(air bubble somewhere in there). This die rolled 1s about 35-40% of the time. It was suggested by a friend of mine that I chuck or even better "burn" the dice in question.
Going with the joke we began to "purge" the die to see if we could keep it from rolling 1s(yes, we are male and are thus allowed to be immature). With the 6 side ground to almost a point it still rolled over statistic 1s(despite the best Imperial cleansing) at which point we incoporated it into a marker as a cursed artifact.
A long time gamer I know believes in the factory "flawed" die so much that as soon as he gets a new set he starts rolling them keepingtrack of what each one rolls. To many 1s and its out. Don't know if he chucks the ones with to many 6s,hhhmmmm.......

I have a friend who thought it would be a good idea to field three Chaos Dreadnoughts with plasma cannons and missile launchers against my Orks. He was also packing around 50 Berzerkers and three Vindicators.
We were both charging each other, not having any luck firing sluggas and bolt pistols at each other, and in the shooting phase before he charged, his dreads all rolled 1s on the Crazed table (Fire Frenzy). He decided to fire frag missiles to protect some of his berzerkers. Bad move. Three frag and plasma templates later, he'd lost around 20 troops due to partial hits. He then fired his Vindicators' cannons at me, and scattered onto his own men. Around 5 were left when the assault phase began. To add insult to injury, I charged his 15-man Raptor squad with my 30-strong Gretchin and managed to break their morale and perform a sweeping advance.
Neither of us thought that this was possible, so we ritually destroyed the dice with a sledgehammer.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I think this is why the game is good for people. Its not when you win but, rather when victory is snatched from your grasp that you have a true learning experience. Learning to have a sense of humor and to not take yourself or the game to seriously is a good thing. Its when I've made an A** out of myself but realize such and able to apologize without prompting where I feel like I'm really developing as a human. Also, that we all have a day where we roll 1s 35-40% of the game. Oh well

My worst experience with dice had some pretty severe consequences. Okay. My Death Guard vs. Necrons. Turn 3 (I remember this one vividly. You'll find out why in a minute). A unit of Havocs with Heavy Flamers just wiped an entire squad of Necron Warriors thanks to a sweeping advance, with not a casualty to speak of. I guess this is just karma at work. Anyway, I'm too ecstatic about that little victory to notice that I've swept right in to Necron Destroyer Target Practice (He actually sent my Raptor Wall that I usually use to deal with this sort of thing reeling of the table, and I was somewhat impressed). Anyway, next turn, he moves the destroyers just within range to be able to fire his Gauss Cannons. He fires on the Havocs. Hits with every single shot, and somehow makes it over my 5 toughness with every single shot. He even gets to nominate a model (Though this is pointless, as my havocs don't take anything different from one another). I shrug. This has happened before, no big deal. I've got basically two saves backing me up here. It'll all be good, right? Wrong. I rolled a one for every single one of my armor saves. I'm generally a very easygoing guy, not prone to get angry unless something really goes wrong. I figured, well, at worst, I'll at least have a couple of Havocs left standing. And then I failed every single one of my Feel No Pain saves. Now, those who field Death Guard are not accustomed to losing an entire squad in one round of shooting. So, needless to say, I kind of snapped. I slammed my fist down as hard as I could on the table. My friend started looking at me strangely. You know that look that people get right before they're about to puke? Yeah. At first, I thought it was just because I gave him a little jolt or something. And then I lifted my hand back up. My friend's Necron Lord was partially buried in the side of my fist. I guess his nice little Staff of Light carved a nice little pit in the flesh of my hand. As soon as I saw it, it hit me. I can hardly remember anything so painful. I yanked the sucker out, and luckily enough I live right across the street from a hospital. Thirteen stitches, and two weeks on coagulation meds because the damn thing refused to stop bleeding. Resulted in a nice big scar and a slightly painful sensation every time I close my right hand all the way. Needless to say, that's one game I never quite finished. My friend let the blood dry on his Necron Lord, and then he went as far as to varnish it (The bastard. Though I guess I would probably do the same). He also has a nasty habit of saying "Blood for the C'tan". There you are. A true "Horror Story of the Infernal Cubes".

I think I can understand. It's one of those in the moment occurances. You get caught up in the (kind of?) competitive cenematic in your head that you react before pulling your mind out of the game.
It usually only takes one time for that to happen IMHO(hopefully without the blood) and most learn to not let it happen again.
I hope with time for you to have a full recovery.

It actually happened about three years ago. Still have that dull pain feeling every time I make a fist (slightly damaged a ligament, I was told), but it's not so bad. Hardly noticeable anymore really.
It wasn't the fact that I was so into the game. It's just that I have literally never lost an entire squad of Plague Marines in one turn, before or since, so I kind of overreacted.
And yes, nothing remotely that bad has happened to me as a result of a Warhammer game since.
I love the fact that as soon as I tell that, people kind of give up on their "bad dice stories".
Heh.

Fish of Fury against chaos marines. Two marker lights on the marines, I raised the BS of fire warriors and devilfish by one. I hit once out of 31 shots, and failed the single to wound roll. The marines then proceeded to assault the fish and destroy it. The explosion killed six fire warriors but left the marines unscathed. Thankfully I had an ally in that game. My Tau forces were all but wiped out, but the chaos forces didn't put a dent in my Eldar comrades. It felt like Eldar trickery to me but we won the game so I can't complain.

Was playing another Tau player in 1st round of tournament, we'd been joking that the Inquisition playing staffer had set xenos scum on one another. We took these the failed leadership test as that the Tau weren't going to fall for Imperiums sneaky lttle plan.
Lost a broadside shield drone on its normal armour save of 2+(rolled a one). Then take leadership test "while standing next to Shadowsun" because drone was 1 of 4 models. Roll 11 on test then fall back roll of10" when 9 7/8ths" from board edge(They walked off). Next two leadership tests also failed, with leadership at 10 from Shadowsun. All on first turn.

well my worst experience with a dice was a rubik's cube that had stickers that looked like the face of a die. i actually used it in a game as a regular dice that could crush models as it rolled. any way my friend got mad at me because i kept rolling 3+ he ended up taking it and scrambling it up when i went to the restroom and i couldn't fix it. i couldnt use it any more!!
now i can solve a rubik's cube in under a minute every time but thats now, not 3 years ago.
