Was watching the news this morning and reports from several of the large shopping centres across Australia (which run from 9am 23/12 to 6pm 24/12 continuously) was that at 2am it was taking 3 hours to get a car park....
I jsut went to the supermarket up the road and as food was being put out on the shelves (fresh food) people were snatching it away immediately.
I got a large roast chicken straight out of the oven.
Fortunatley we had our Christmas shopping done by the start of the month so we haven't had to loiter at the shops at this busy time.

This is why I did my shopping three weeks ago.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

This is why God gaves us Elbows!
As an act of odd charity and good will, I like to lurk in Supermarkets when doing my shopping, to aid little old ladies with the high shelves and that.

I really hate Christmas.
Somehow I dont think its supposed to be about commerce, rushing out to get that last present, being short of money, fighting shopping crowds, getting trampled at wal-mart, hours of standing in line at registers, the list goes on....
I'm not the most pious person to be sure, but I'm all about celebrating the birth of Christ if that's your thing. Enjoying a holiday with family with a gluttonous meal. (it seems to me that X-mas should be about this)
I dont have my kid for X-mas this year, and it seems all I'm doing is trying to beat the crowd for gifts, spending lots of time and money online shopping, and trying to fit everyone in when I still have to squeeze out bills and regular cost of living. Christmas started (once again) pissing me off this year with the decorations that begin going up a day before Halloween.
Nobody knows what Christmas is supposed to be about. If I dont have my kid next year for Christmas I'm going to ignore it and tell everyone to leave me out. Christmas is for kids, Christmas without kids and all the typical pain-in-the-a$$ ritual that society thrusts upon us is friggin' maddening and makes me want to punch people. I dont think that's what they meant by "Christmas Spirit".

I agree, it's definately more hassle than it's worth. I know the kids love it but it's a lot of fuss for the second most important Christian festival.

I've just worked 28 hours of overtime in a supermarket in the past three days... so many people... so much food.... for just one bizarre day....
Its really quite despressing how money appears to be the religion worshipped by most people these days :/
