Quick question...

Because I have finally decided to take the plunge!

I cannot resist INFINITY anymore!

But, I'm still not sure what army to choose!

Does the revised Rulebook (I know, the backgound is mostly (wholly?) the same!) do a good job of explaining the different factions, their styles of play, the force selection, etc.?

If anyone knows and can help, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

Well...

Either way, I'll need (OK, I'd like!) the rulebook, so, I guess I'll take the plunge anyway!

Right now, I'm really leaning towards Nomads, with PanOceania, Yu-Jing and Ariadna as close favorites.

Since it is a skirmish scale game, I figure I can probably collect 2 or 3 forces and hopefully not end up getting "Rackhamed" when it is all said and done.

Also hoping that once I have the rulebook, it will become easier to figure out what models/units to buy, other than going by strictly what looks best!

From what little I know about Infinity, I'd have to say the faction that has the most boarding shotguns. Those just sound really cool.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Good point.

I think I might have to help blaze that trail in my area...

Good luck with that.

The 2.0 rulebook is a better investment. It's much less filled with typos and is better edited and organized.

Honestly though, it's not really a GREAT rulebook... so if you can find one online for cheap get it. Otherwise read the background on their site and download the free PDF (totally up to date as it is).

Best of luck.

The rulebook digestion will start tonight...

My Nomads and Ariadna should show up sometime towards the end of the month...

Good times!

So, it's been a while. What do you think?

When I originally tried Infinity with the rulebook, I thought it was way too kludgy and complex. It may have modeled warfare aspects better, but it really slowed down the flow.

It is definitely complex, and I haven't been able to get a real game in yet.

I'd love to find someone to run a demo for me, but until that time, it is all theory and such inside my head...

Be prepared to be blown away by a demo of the game... I was... then again stuff in general impresses me.... OH LOOK! WHAT I TYPE APPEARS ON MY POST!

I liked the pacing of the game. One can get a nice skirmish going while waiting for their next Warmachine opponent between games... it goes Warmachine... Infinity... Warmachine... Infinity... Warmachine... Infinity... five minutes to store closing ...Infinity... Infinity... Infinity...

I myself am thinking of playing Adrianda... Aridanda... Arianada... the one that starts with 'A'...

Its all good. Played a demo this week, and I was really REALLY impressed with the game. It reminded me of a tabletop version of XCOM or Jagged Alliance.

Ariadna can keep you from using TAGs (they're the LoTechs in this game)... so if you're planning on using one choose wisely!

Actually I am going to be running a Nomad Tagless force. I like picking apart my opponents in games, and they have the tools to do it.
