I was down in Los Angeles visiting family over the holidays and decided to finally stop by the LA Battle Bunker since we were already doing some other things around Cerritos and Irvine. So, I trukked my family down for a gander to see if it met my expectations.

Overall impressions were mixed. The sheer amount of playing space was cool as was seeing the full scale Space Marine, the fortress, and the Ork fortress. I was very happy to see quite a bit of Forgeworld models there, which gave me a good feel for size and weight. I was very tempted to walk out of there with a Barbed Hierodule, but decided to pass.

The figures in the cases were pretty cool too, seeing a fully painted army for most of the WHFB and 40K armies though my wife was pretty appalled by the quality of the painted figures (or not painted) on the tables though. The kids got a kick out of seeing everything though.

Glad I finally got a chance to visit one of the battle bunkers though. Pretty cool stuff.

FYI, the "fortress" is Middenheim, from the WFB Storm of Chaos campaign a while back. IIRC, it was made by privateers and bought by GW.
