My friend emailed this list. Don't know where it came from though or how reliable it is.
----------------------------------------------
Clanrats, same unfortunately
Stormvermin S4 base, ASF, cause fear
Rat ogres S6, count as having additional hand weapons, reroll all psych tests, stubborn while packmasters are alive
Giant rats, reroll all psych tests, stubborn while packmasters are alive
Slaves, can’t be joined by characters otherwise the same
Ratling gun now S5, move and shoot, points drop
Warpfire thrower, move and shoot but inexplicably goes up by 15 pts ensuring its still not taken
new ‘lightning gun’ weapon team, as warp lightning but in the shooting phase
Poison wind globadiers, points up slighty but d6 hits per ‘hit’
Night runners/gutter runners option for brace of warplock pistols
Jezzails, option for sniper champ, can pick out model
plague monks, frenvy, hatred and poisoned attacks
plague censor, 2A, S4, censor wound on 4+ regardless of Toughness, option for ’super censor’ on a champ, wounds on 2+
Warplightning cannon, same but thankfully follows normal war machine rules
new rare ‘really big rat’ (!!!), US5, good stats, regeneration, stubborn, may tunnel and charge in any direction on turn it appears
Warlord, same
Grey seer, knows all spells, unlimited warpstone chunks
Vermin Lord, doombull stats, lvl 4 wiz
Master Moulder, grants regeneration to any moulder unit he joins
Assassin, comes w/ weeping blades but still overpriced and easy to kill, interesting option for sniper rifle jezzail
Warlock. same but warp-lightning S6
Plague Priest, any may be upgraded to lvl 2 wiz, any pestilens unit he joins never loses frenzy
sacred standard of the horned rat, cause fear and also unit is unbreakable while they outnumber the enemy

Sounds very suspicious.
Skaven are due for a 'de-powering', though I'm not sure how that will work with GW trying to sell an army...

It looks like nothing but improvements to already overpowered units. Unlikely unless they intend to continue the trend of making every new codex for fantasy the biggest bestest thing ever.

You're sure you don't know where it came from or how reliable this list is? You can't tell by reading it that it's some fanboy's really (x2) awesome Skaven dream team of army list modifications?

Actually, skaven aren't that great nowadays and they're probably going to get some boosts, especially rat ogres and stormvermin. This list just sounds like crap

Huh?
They are still able to build a very nasty force that is, by most accounts, not very fun to play against.
Not sure how much of a 'boost' they are in need of, though that probably doesn't mean they won't get one.

As a Skaven player myself, I assume the Ratling gun will be nerfed. On the other hand, it'd sure be nice if Rat Ogres were worth taking, since I have a good bunch of them gathering dust on the shelf.
In my opinion, Skaven are one of those forces that have a couple really good units that are in almost every list, and a couple really bad units that never see use. I probably just need a lot more practice with them myself, as I don't see them nearly as dominating as some folks on Dakka make them out to be. Maybe I just need to try harder to build nastier lists!
And I'd sure like to see a return of the Doomwheel.
Just my 2 coppers, tho.

i get that you have a thing against skaven, but they've got a really old, outdated book that doesn't fare so well against most of the current lists. they need changes, both boosts and nerfs. some of the things that need a real rework are rat ogres, warlords, weapons teams, the crappy awful screaming bell, and perhaps most of all, stormvermin.

You don't have to have a "thing" against Skaven to agree that they still have some very strong builds that still hold up well against more recent books (ignoring, of course the abomination that is Chaos Daemons). But the list definitely needs some work in the areas you mentioned. ROgres definitely need a boost, warlords need minor boosting (or Skaven wizards need a little debuffing), Stormvermin will probably get 2A (this seems to be the thing for elite infantry now), etc.
Oh, and for the record I hate the Skaven concept in WHFB- an army of ratmen is stupid. But others disagree ;-)

I think they fit the background very well, and are more appropriate, given the setting, than certain other armies (ogre kingdoms, lizardmen, tomb kings). But others disagree ;-)

I have to say that I don't have a 'thing' against the idea of Skaven in WFB, and they definitely have more of a place than Ogre Kingdoms and Lizardmen (Fishmen though, look out!)...
But at least the feel less 'stuck in' then Necrons and Tau do in 40k.

Why is an army of ratmen any more stupid than big green cockney hooligans? In a game with three types of elves I'm sure we can find room for the Skaven. Sure, they're a direct lift from Fafner, but they fill that crucial role of the cheeky villain. Whilst elves are making fancy speeches or crying over something, Skaven strike. They completely rubbish the Hollywood ideal, and good on them. They're not satanic like Chaos, relentlessly morbid like the Undead or bone headed sheep like Orcs. I think of them as the most interesting race (alongside Chaos) and the most fun to play by far. A completely overlooked army, and for what? Brettonians? Please.
If the Skaven were a Batman villain they'd be the Riddler. If they were humans they'd be the Soviet Union.
They're the most technologically advance race in whfb, and they have some great models too. What's not to love?

I think every army has units that get on peoples nerves. There were people who whined about the Doomwheel being ''unrealistic'' whilst deploying their Doom Divers.

1 improvement to skaven, just to be fair, is that Assassin's no longer take a hero slot. I mean DE assassins dont take up a hero slot and are a whole hell of alot better then skaven assassins. Also i agree that rat ogres get a buff we have one skaven player here and he's never used them. Seeing a doomwhell could be amusing but storm vermin with ASF and str 4. 5 with halbreds, thats a little overboard. Anyways there definately need a new codex followed by bretonians.
