Apologies if this is old news, but just been chatting to a blue shirt and upon purchasing some battlefield accessories, he commented that Space Marine casualty models are on the way

He also confirmed the imminent arrival of the Ork Stompa and said that UK stores would have their own model for display purposes within the next month or so

As I was clearly on a roll, I pressed him about a possible May Imperial Guard release but he adopted the air of someone being watched by the Inquisition and refused to say anything further

Good stuff! I've always liked casualty figures.

Yay?

(OK, the SPASE MARINEZ HURR!!11! crowd will probably walk around 3-legged for a week or so imagining the humiliating modeling possibilities they can place them in, but other than that?)

What are they for then? Decoration? Novelty value? Quite nice though. I suppose they'll be direct sales only.

Casualty figures are a nice way of doing markers for casualties taken in an assault, etc. Ideally they should produce some for every faction.

There was an SM casualty in the good old days, 20 years ago. I have one somewhere.

Ahh, the only thing I love seeing better than dead SM are Raiders full of SM slaves for the arena...

Would be good for objective markers (depending on price...).

Agreed on the objective markers bit, first thing I thought of. What better to lose dozens of men for then to rescue three? My marines approve.

Yup they have done a few casualtiy figs over the years. RT marine fig, Tallaran and Preatorian guardsman too. The one pointing his bolt pistol will probably end up being most used as base decoration to Greater Deamons, what ya bet?

Lol, no I didn't think it was anything earth shattering, but as other posters have commented, good for objective markers.

That's like the plot for every War or Outdoor Rescue Movie ever made.

"My sister is trapped on the mountain dying"

...6 guys die to rescue the sister....

"Private So and So needs to be rescued"

....squad gets wiped out in the process...

Sounds reasonable.

Anyone find it funny that GW released dead Space Marine models before an Ork Buggy?

No, we're talking about GW. When was the last time Sisters or Dark Eldar or.....well, anybody other than Orks got a new model, and when was the last time Spaze Marins got a new model? I'm pretty sure the rotation goes, "Space Marines, somebody else, Space Marines, somebody else, Space Marines, Space Marines, somebody else...."

"I went into a hobby-shop to play m'self a game,
The 'ouse Guru 'e up an' sez "The Guard is weak and lame!"
The Chaos gits around the shelves they laughed and snickered in my face,
I outs into the street again an' grabbed my figure-case."
Oh it's "Angels this" an' "Space-wolves that", and "Guardsmen, go away!";
But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."

I'm going to model a crisis suit squatting suggestively. No wait, 3 crisis suits who just "deep struck."

These models will be excellent as assault marines. Glue a sword to those hands and you now have untargetable models that can hide behind anything.

That's a good idea, since they have such a hard time coming up with enough models to fill up the stores.
