Hi guys,I wanna start a speed freaks army yet dont know which to go for warboss or a mek,please help!

Vehicle heavy armies benefit from a mek (doc tools), but if you like the idea of a nob squad as a troop choice, then go with warboss. You do know that you get two HQ choices, so you can go with both, right?

Seriously though, if you're looking for one powerful HQ, you want the Warboss.
The Big Mek is more of a support character.

That depends on how fast you want your Speed Freaks to be. A mek has a bunch of interesting options, but only a few of them would fit into a pure Speed Freak list. You don't want to drive a SAG around, that's just wasting shots and Foce Fields work best if you can stretch the bubble with big infantry units.
Also, Biker Warbosses kick

and Nobs taken as troops can hold objectives. Troop Dreads taken with the Big Mek can not and wouldn't fit into your army concept anyway. I'd say keep the Big Mek purchase for later.

I disagree with this. KoS armies are vulnerable to any sort of ranged shooting because most of their boyz ride around in AV10 and open-topped vehicles, which a strong sneeze is likely to blow over. Giving them all a 4+ cover save will make your army last much longer, curcially, long enough to get inot combat.

Big Mek
Kustom Force Field
Maybe a Burna

and

Warboss
Bosspole
Powerklaw
Warbike
Kombi-Skorcha
Cybork Body
Maybe an Attack Squig

As good choices for a speed freak list.
The mek rides in a battlewagon, protecting the wagon and surrounding vehicles, while the biker boss either rides with biker nobs or goes tank-hunting by himself.

Well, in that case I'd pick up an Assault on Black Reach.

It has deffkoptas, boys, nobs, and a warboss. Plus, a rule book if you still need one.

Run the warboss with a powerklaw, cybork body, kombi-skorcha, bosspole, and maybe eavy armor or an attack squig.

You can have him lead a squad of nobs or add punch to a squad of truckers, and either way he makes your nob squad scoring.

Actually, Mega Armor isn't a bad investment at all, if you plan on running mega armored nobs. MANs are good, but desperately need an HQ to run with them due to their terrible leadership.

Without MANs? It probably wouldn't be terrible, but you do have the disadvantage of slowing down the squad your boss is in.

Either way, your stuck either basing the boss off of a mega armored nob, which will look a little weedy without modification, or basing the boss off of Ghazzie, in which case you'll have an impressive boss, but you'll want to make sure he doesn't actually look like Ghazghkull.

That's not too hard to do. Even with just removing the horns, banner, and stikkbombz from the model, he looks very much different. Combined with a totally different colour scheme (ie, mine), he can look unique with minimal modification.

Well I think I have enough parts left from other stuff combined with Ghazzie to make a cool mini.

My suggestion for a KOS list would be similar to what Orkeosaurus mentioned. I run my orks as foot sloggers normally, but I have enough transports to move em around if the situation requires. I have to say, a Big Mek in an armored caravan goes a long way. He gives 4+ cover to all vehicles nearby. You measure from the hull too so you get a couple inches for that.

After that Biker Nobs w/ Biker boss seem to just go hand in hand since they have their own 4+ cover save. they can provide an escort if something gets close or can branch off and harass on their own as well.

A trukk or wagon full of burnas is always a good idea. Roll up to a squad and toast them without ever leaving the transport. Plus you can hop out and they all count as power weapons (as long as you don't shoot first).

So in the end the answer is bring both and have fun =)

If you wanna do lots of biker speed freeks...Wazdakka is the only choice.

A warboss on a bike with powerklaw and attack squig can throw out a hell of a lot of attacks with good mobility and reasonable survivability.

if you want a speed freak army NEVER get mega armor... Slow and crappyfull is not the way of speed freaks!

And you should never take a punny warboss or Mek over the great and powerful Wasdaka!

And because your new to this I don't see any one crying if you just dress a normal nob on a bike up a bit, maby add a few flashy bits and a big old gun to the front of a bike.
