back on topic. I think I'm going to start by buying a lizardmen bataljon, a box of saurus warriors, an old blood on cold one and of course the lizardmen army book.

Well, at least wait until te next book is out before committing. WFB is a lot of fun, but it takes more models than many 40K armies, so it's slightly more pricy. The ruleset is a little more mature and most of the armies were fairly well balanced until the release of the High Elves and everything after (especially Vampire Counts & Daemons) skewed the power curve.
