well evey body will probably think i'm crazy. maybe i am, but i am bent apon making an entire army out of copper wire, sodder, and green stuff. right now i am stripping cables to get copper wire. as soon as i'm done i'll start forming them int othe skeletons then when my friend is done with the model designs i'll begin puttong green stuff on them ant start sculpting them.
wish me luck i'll need it, i've never sculpted before. i am putting everything else on hold yes even DND to do this. well if anyone has any suggestions or advice for me then i would greatly apreciate it.

You're right, i think you're crazy...
Edit for percepted harshness:
I just think that if your going to completely scratch build, being that its a ton of work, why not make a counts as army rather than house rules army that wont allow you to play anywhere but with those people? Just my two cents i guess.

I think missile launchers look best on a kneeling model. Mounted on the shoulder with another model feeding ammo from behind.

i hope for your sake the finished army looks good. some of people scratch build a character, but an entire army would be impressive.

When I read of your idea, I though "I think I can guess how old this guy is". And the following line made it clear:
gamefreak wrote:because my teacher said i could get the cable for free from him and that i could use his soddering iron to put the skeletons together. lesson: the best things in life are free.
What you're doing is cool. You'll probably fail. Miserably. Painfully. You'll either give up early or take some shortcuts, then give up, then start re-doing it, then give up again.
But you'll learn a freaking lot that will be quite useful for you second project. There is always a second project.
While you're still in school, this is the perfect chance to go this way. Afterwards, you'll lack the time (but you'll have more money, so you can start faster using pre-made armatures and better sculpting materials).
So by all means, go for it.

For basic sculpting, I'd use a cheap polymer clay like Fimo. Just use green stuff for the details. That saves a lot of money.

well.... i'm going to use some epoxy putty and mold it around the frames and then i'll sculpt the fine detail out of green stuff because of how expensive it is.
as soon as my friend gets done with the plans i'll post them here so you guys can see the hopeful end result.

This. You haven't really told us what the army even is, other than the troops are skeletons. I'm interested in the background.

More power to you bro - good luck with it!
One suggestion - if you are making weapons for them your definitely should sculpt a single weapon and cast it (even in a GS mold) and put them on afterward. Making detailed guns that look the same would be both difficult and time consuming.
Milliput is a good option for a base for the figures:
http://www.themodelcatalogue.com/acatalog/Milliput_Putty.html
Quite cheap compared to GS.

My word! They are stunning! j/kes
I once tried making a scratch built army too. They were bits of straw covered in PVA glue and painted blue, they didn't turn out well so i gave up and...well, if you can't beat 'em join em.
