I have just recently bought an old set of Rogue Trader books off Ebay and i have read them all.
Now i can't say that i was there when It all started, but what i can do is make my own fanfic about it.
Now its a little complicated due to the fact that it takes place in the late 80's version of 40k which adds a slight cheesiness too it that i enjoy.
It doesn't take place in the 40k universe but resides in its tongue in cheek 80's perspective.
So yes you will see genestealer cult limos,Zoat,Squats,Beastmen and other species that where written out of the game.
The story is told in the eyes of an imperial armyman (remember guardsman didn't come in till much later) who must face the hostile threat of xenos and the betrayal of his higher ranking officers.

Is this like the "Chaos Space Marine Diary"? I liked those.

I have not read those yet so i couldn't answer.
Also wouldn't it be a bit hard to write a diary with a warped mind?
