Anyone?

If not does anyone want to help me make some templates of the appropriate size? Any other considerations before I attempt to?

I actually think pure 40k would do nicely using a handful of epic minis/25mm round base for regular units. The vehicles get hard to abstract but I think it would look awesome. Of course, everything would get cover saves since virtually everything would impact line of sight.

isnt the point of Epic that it is the Original Apoc? And 6000 times better?

Yup, Epic: Armageddon is better than Apocalypse.

If anything, I'd wonder why anyone would play Apocalypse with Warhammer models if they had enough for a few basic formation in Epic. That said, I don't get why people still play Warhammer Fantasy Battle when Warmaster is available.

Umm... because they're entirely different games that don't really play close to the same?

I know. The difference is that WFB sucks, while Warmaster is actually good. So I don't get why people still play the former when they could play the latter.

Funny, in my experience the opposite is true.

That's because you have bad taste.

Hmm, with the new LotR movement trays, perhaps 40k Scale Epic has just become a bit easier?

Or because I have a different opinion and don't need someone else to tell me what I consider fun.

Then again, I now remember who I'm talking to and simply remember that Obnoxious Troll is Obnoxious.

Enjoy your BADWRONGFUN additude, Nurglitch.

Given the flexible basing rules for Epic: Armageddon, and the existence of plasticard, it's always been pretty easy. Litko Aerosystems has had a selection of skirmish trays for years.

The trick is having a large enough board space, but if you have the space for Apocalypse, then you have space for Armageddon.

If you're really cramped for space, then it's easy enough to play Epic: Armageddon as a skirmish game.

No, I'd have to attribute bad taste in your case. Quite aside from your obvious admission of bad taste, there's the way you've fallen back on the "I just have a different opinion" excuse that people with bad taste fall back on when they get called out for having bad taste. After all, I'm not saying that you don't consider it fun, obviously you do. I'm saying your opinion, that you consider WFB more fun than Warmaster, is bad taste. Some people like McDonald's food. Some people like to dress in sweatpants. Some people like lousy games.

Nice work though, screaming "Troll!" when someone disagrees with your opinion. I suppose it saves you from having to justify your opinion, or make any sort of intelligent post.

I think the people play Apoc and not Epic just so they can see big ass models on the battlefield has nothing to do with system. If I were you though I would just play Epic with Epic rules unless you are just being lazy and do not want to learn a new rule set.

Nono, I would love to learn the ruleset, I just dont care for buying a whole new FW only army that is 6mm scale. I have a hard enough time finishing/painting my 40k scale armies

tastytaste:

I think you're onto something. After all, there's a reason Epic: Armageddon is 6mm - at that scale you actually have space on 6'x4' table for a decent-sized (3000pt) game.

Still, it definitely speeds things up on a 28mm table to have combat resolved by units rather than by models. Plus the turn sequence makes for more dynamic play. Speed of play and dynamic action make for better group-games.

The main problem with Epic is that it's model range, at least a lot of it, looks abysmal. If they redid it with their model-making ability today, it could look good, but it doesn't really right now, for the most part. I was thinking about getting into it a while back, but I was so disappointed by the models that I didn't.

Nice rant. It'd be even better if it wasn't for the fact that taste, like opinions, is a completely subjective thing.

Nurglitch wrote:Nice work though, screaming "Troll!" when someone disagrees with your opinion. I suppose it saves you from having to justify your opinion, or make any sort of intelligent post.

Ooo.. a jab at my intelligence. Just like every other argument you're in. There's a reason I called you a Troll and it has nothing to do with you disagreeing with me(I could care less about that, honestly, you're allowed your opinion). Most of it has to do with the fact that every argument you're in is you just stating the same point over and over and not budging because you believe your point of view is 100% true and therefore completely impenetrable(see: any thread involving the Deff Rolla), regardless of any supported evidence presented to you, and purposely bait everyone trying to show you a different point of view just so you can "shoot them down" with your proof derived by what you state is the only logic that makes sense.

Of course, it doesn't matter what I say, you'll just come back with some BS about how I'm wrong and you're right and how you're obviously so much more intelligent than I am so everyone can see how cool and important you are online.

I should have known better than to respond to you hoping to have an actual reasonable conversation about something you're obviously entirely too dug in about.

I'll chime in with saying that if you have the epic miniatures download the rules and play epic, its great fun.

Hi all.

Apoc is about the ashetic.Having as many big cool looking minatures -kits in one place as possible. The rules are a secondary concideration.

Epic Armageddon is about the function -interaction.Playing a good wargame ,the minatures used are a secondary concideration.

Converting the Epic rules for use with 40k minis wolld make far more sense IMO.
Good rules with nicer looking minatures!
Rather than mediocre minatures with poor rules as the op is suggesting.
IMO without the great minis and kits , 40k and Apoc rules have very little appeal!

I've been playing Epic since 1989 where I amassed a 45,000 point Ultras and S. Wolves Chapters force (incorporating PDF and Titans).

I loved the massive number of Infantry Companies and many Tank Companies on the Battlefield...

I also loved the visual detail of 40K (28mm) figs and wished I could duplicate Epic (legally rule wise... I did make up some stuff)... and then... Apocalypse

I now have a 40K version of my Epic forces... and although it's much more (very much more) expensive and time consuming (construction / painting, etc) I think that I am in Heaven.

Play Epic for a reason... Play Apocalypse for a reason... Play for fun

Mik

I had a similar idea. I enjoyed playing 6th edition 40k and used to play Space Marine back in the day so I have plenty of 6mm miniatures. I thought I would play test a small game using 6th edition 40k rules with individual 6mm figures. The only substitute I made was swapping inches for centimetres in the 40k rules. Using 1/300 scale scenery (or zz scale in train modelling terms) the game worked nicely with weapon ranges across the battlefield seeming a lot more realistic.

So if you like playing 40k but lack the funds and space to commit to 28mm battling then I'd recommend giving this a go. Cheap, compact fun.

If I had Epic models, I'd rather play Epic than Dice Rolling 40.000. 40K Apocalypse is one of the biggest wastes of time I've ever seen, as a game experience. A spectacle, sure, but there are hardly any tactics involved and it takes an entire day to play out. Unlike Epic, which is a tight set of rules.

I was wondering "why are people talking about Warmaster as if you can just pick it up and play it?" before I realised that it was a 5 year necro
