Anyone play this? I stumbled across the minis one night while browsing a webstore and got interested. I bought and have read through the rulebook and it looks like it'd be fun to play (but damn, I would need a big reference sheet). I also found some minis from another alternate WW2 game by Darkson Designs that looked nice and wondered if the scale matched up to the Westwind minis.

I play AE-WW2 and the scales do match, I see people using SotTR minis as stand ins.

Check out the AE-WW2 game if you get the chance. I actually prefer their stuff as the minis are better and the rules have a bit more to them.

I have to chime in on the other side - prefering SoTR a bit more.

The 'create a mech' rules, while prone to abuse like any vehicle design system would be, are nice and the ability to include a wide range of historical vehicles (and tanks!) is also great.

Additionally, I love the "pulp" and "comic book" type elements - the Weird War II stuff. I think it is handled a bit better in SoTR, plus, there's less Zombie Hate in SoTR too!

I ordered the US and German starter sets so our club can demo the game. I also orded some German Greatcoats from the AE-WW2 range. Those are just too cool not to use.

I picked up the AE-WWII minis and was a bit disappointed. The sculpts are a bit off, particularly the faces which are kinda' squashed. But I'm very picky. Overall kudos to them for designning some fun Wierd War stuff. They are slightly bigger than most mini ranges, calling themselves 'true 32mm' IIRC.

Here's a couple of other considerations if you like the Wierd War theme. Even if you're not interested in the game, they have some great minis for adding to whichever system you choose to go with:

Pre-painted plastics, but they also offer an unpainted resin set. Lots of great characters. Can't find the english site, but I know the LGS has english versions of the game and accessories.

Closer to 'true' 28mm or a more 'heroic' GW 28mm?

I've seen the Incursion minis. I think they're actually supposed to have separate rules for use in Secrets of the Third Reich.

They do indeed have rules for use in both Incursion and Secrets of the Third Reich!
