This week I am pleased to announce that Forsaken Bounty, an introductory adventure for Rogue Trader, is Fantasy Flight Games’ contribution to this year’s Free RPG Day.
Forsaken Bounty is a full-colour, 24-page booklet that includes a selection of pre-generated Rogue Trader characters, a simplified quick-start rules set, and an adventure that sends your characters on a dangerous journey into the Koronus Expanse!
Free RPG Day is Saturday, June 20th, so make your plans now to go to a participating game store in your area.
Don’t miss out on your chance to get a sneak peek at Rogue Trader!
After Free RPG Day
If you miss your chance to pick up the free booklet on June 20th, Forsaken Bounty will be made available as a PDF download from the Rogue Trader web site after Free RPG Day. Support your Friendly Local Game Store and get your hands on a free copy of Forsaken Bounty on June 20th!
Rogue Trader is a roleplaying game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, the grim darkness of the far future. Players take on the roles of Explorers aboard a Rogue Trader's ship, searching for profit and adventure in the uncharted regions of space.

The 'new' Rogue Trader is a full RPG based on the Dark Heresy rules. While sharing the 40k setting, it's pretty much unrelated to the 'Rogue Trader' I.E. 40k v1.0 game.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy. |

Cool, I love the Rogue Trader background. I really enjoyed the book about the Rogue Trader family (the House name was Gerrit - can't remember the book title ) so the chance to do a RPG based in that 'world' really interests me. The fact that it's free is a big plus too.

I like the fact that the book took you to the fringe of the Imperium where less then dutitful Govenors run the planets however they want. The unique type of society that the Govenor runs on the world featured in the story is a breath of freash air compared to the dark and Gothic worlds in most of the 40K fiction. Think I was the only person at the time who liked the book out of people I knew though.

I enjoyed the both of them, it's a pity that they didn't continue this series, as the second novel really ends on a cliffhanger when the Damocles Gulf crusade kicks off proper.

Hmm, I might give the second book a look see then. I liked the first book so much that when I next played Inquisitor I decided to play as a Rogue Trader character and his retinue, rather then take any Inquisitorial characters. Wrote a long backstory for them too. Might get round to posting it in the fiction section here if I remember to.

When's the release date for the Rogue Trader RPG? Since it uses the same rules as Dark Heresy I'm guessing the classes can be swapped between the two? It would be cool to take a group of Acolytes onto a Rogue Trader ship for a series of adventures.

GenCon is given as the official release date and yes you can take your acolytes on a space cruise across the Halo Stars and beyond.

Which GenCon?
If I recall correctly Dark Heresy is Inquistorial henchman parties (demons and cults aplenty) and Rogue Trader will be space pirates..er, privateers (aliens and other pirates). That sound about right?

Gencon Indy (August 13-16).
And yes, Dark Heresy is all about the Inquisition, serving the Imperium, and rooting out heresy. Rogue Trader more like Conquistadors or Privateers and profit is the goal, and as you're operating outside the bounds of the Imperium the only law and order is what you bring with you. It's gonna be fun!
