So, yeah. My brother and some of his friends have talked me into buying some 40k stuff. I never owned or played any wargames before, so everything seems a bit complex Rules, armylists, etc etc.
Anyhow, we're going to a sommercottage for a week to play warhammer, and I just happened to stumble upon this forum - looks good, maybe I'll be able to put up a fight then;D

I've posted an armylist, so if any of you could give me just a teeny tiny tadder of help, that would be awesome!

Welcome to utter chaos. Dakka helps to explain some of the rules that may complicate the game a bit. I'm somewhat of a new gamer myself and what i did was read the rulebook a few times so that way i knew the basic rules of the game really well. The best thing to do is get a few games under your belt and of course have the other person explain the rules you don't quite understand. Once you get those first 10 games in the rules will come to you easier. Any whoooo good luck and the main thing is to have fun with the hobby.

Hi, and welcome to Dakka! Yes the game is intimidating at first. Just think of it as chess with a hand full of details. Movement parameters, ranged, close combat, as strategy are part of this the dice are what represent the randomness of combat. Trying to retain everything in the game book will melt your brain. Get the basic and only look up things when you and your game bud get stuck. Happy Hunting!

Hello and welcome. I have gotten some good advice on Dakka. The rules are compex I do fell like I am reading the Personnel Manual with all the Civil Service rules to remember.
