I am curious which armies are most popular, as choosing something different will be one factor in choosing a WFB army to collect...

Played both Wood Elves and High Elves since I got into the game in the 90's.

Just bought a Warriors of Chaos army i'm currently in the process of putting together and painting.

Dabbled with Dwarves and Vampire Counts in the past but its always been elves that have interested me.

I think I have played every army at one time or another, but finally settled on Empire and Ogre Kingdoms. Although, I did pick up the Warriors of Chaos book a few months ago . . . .

I play all the armies minus empire. In terms of popularity i see , its :

Good guys: High Elves , Dwarf

Bad guys: Chaos , Vampire, Orc Goblin

Rarely seen:

GG: Britonnian
BG: Beast of Chaos

I don't mean to be picky, but you forgot Orcs and Goblins.

Edit; For me it's Skaven, and BFSP Night Goblins.

Missing Orcs and Gobbos there lol.

Anyway my family started 10 years ago and we love Warhammer.

We have just about...all of them lol.

i'm slowly building a dwarf army via the everuseful dakka swap shop.
then i just have to convince some friends to play, or travel a bit farther from my town

Beasts are suffering from the being only Chaos book not to be updated since The Big Split (in which GW decided that Chaos was getting far too disorganised Sorry, but that oxymoron always makes me guffaw).

Think Daemons have their fans. The meanest Lord choice in the game is enough of a draw for some.

Anyway, it's Empire and Vampires for me.

Empire have the best plastic models in the Fantasy range (take a bow Wizards, Flagellants, Archers, State Troops and Handgunners) and you can field any kind of unit you fancy.

Vampires also have a good model range and who doesn't like raising the dead mid-game?

What is this whole Dogs of War thing? They seemed to happen during the 15 years when I didn't even look at GW. Are they some sort of mercenary group? It'd be quite cool to play as a bunch of Tileans and Albions.

Regiments of Renown (3E / 4E?) became Dogs of War with an Army Book in 5E, and got a WD list in 6E. They are nominally Tilean, but don't have to be.

I only play Lizards right now, but have my eyes on Ogres as a possible next army. Or Beasts of Chaos.

Yeah, I play for looks and fun, not to win.

Although looking at more armies is idiotic, since I have played 2 games with my Lizards.

Oh and i play WoC, were the best

Have only ever been playing Empire since 1997.

But, this means I can field most choices multiple times and I can possibly field almost 6000 pts before, upgrades, characters, magic items and not counting DoW.

well it once was only Hordes of chaos but technically i own 2 armies now, daemons and WoC, unfortunately though with the daemons armybook so broken they are sitting on my shelf never to be played until i get a new book....

Which seems to be a good and a bad thing, Im original in my group, and Dakka it seems, but my army is never going to get updated.

lizardmen 5,000 points (first army)
ogres 2,250 points after i re-did them
dwarfs 3,500 points

High Elves! 3000 points, just got 'em

I'm also wanting to get into orcs & gobbos sometime in the near(ish) future
