What's the MAIN reason you do or don't finish most of your tournament Warhammer 40K games?
I finish the vast majority because I'm a very fast player who practices often with my army.
I finish the vast majority because I use very small sized armies.
I finish most because I'm a pretty fast player who practices some with my army.
I finish most because I tend to use smaller sized armies.
I don't finish most because I'm kind of a slow player and/or I haven't practiced with my army much.
I don't finish most because I tend to use larger sized armies.
I don't finish most because I'm kind of new to the game and still learning the rules.
I don't finish most because I'm unlucky and tend to get opponents who are kind of slow and/or use larger armies.
I don't finish the vast majority because I'm a very slow player and/or never get to practice with army.
I don't finish the vast majority because I play absolutely huge armies.
I don't finish the vast majority because I'm very new to the game and still learning the rules.
I don't finish the vast majority because I'm unlucky and always get opponents who are very slow and/or use a gigantic army.

Because I'm always struggling to fight off the daemons in my head who say spend all day online being wasting your time posting on forums trying to defeat the spread of the tool horde. They are like zombies except their are actually very few of them and they are a little intelligent.

No seriously who cannot finish a game when RGL says "Lol look 5 turns is all you get". I think planetstrike should be the new tournament format. It is actually fun and the action is fast and the furious unlike 5th where you jockey for position and then the game ends after two turns of actual fighting.

I haven't played in tournaments so I don't know, but in normal games I tend to play pretty fast.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I suck at 40K and by the 3rd turn when I have 2 marines left, I call the game. Seriously.

The land of cotton.

When I play tourneys, it's highly dependent on the opponent.

If I get a fast play opponent who knows the rules well games go fast. When I get a casual player who has to looks stuff up a lot, doesn't know my army well or spends a long time considering moves... well the results are predictable.

Man that was a meaty poll.

I finish most of my games. I've either built smaller sized armies, or (in the case of my IG). I'm fairly fast in working out moving, shooting, etc...

If I haven't finished a game it's because I've had a horde on horde game.

I don't play tournament games. but I do finish the games I play, no matter how long they are and no matter how much my inner demons say to give up cuz I've already lost (and that's happened alot cuz I'm not that great yet)

I've been using the same tournament army for 4 years now and it's only about 30 models, so my turns go pretty damn fast.

I chose other--I spend most of my time battling one of these people--Connor, Ryan, Darren, Steve or anyone else in my LFGS. With these people I like to discuss the fluff in 40k and this usually takes over the game a bit as we get into an argument over a peice of fluff or a loophole I think I have seen in the rules.

Either this or I take part in quite alot of FLGS organised apocolypse games and I really like playing large games with about 4-8 players ^_^

I think Redbeard once wrote something, either a post or an article, on how he managed to play fast with an 180+ horde of Orks.

I played against Redbeard in the Adepticon Gladiator a couple of years ago and we really only got to turn #4. I had to rush my final turn so we got to finish turn #5. We had only 15 minutes left and he wanted to end the game there on turn #4, but I told him that I would take 5 minutes and he could have 10 and I just rushed forward to try to grab the objectives, and got killed anyways. Nothing against Redbeard, but when you are playing an ork horde, you have a ton of models and it takes a while. It did not help that it was at 2000 points in 2 hours (Hey, like BoLSCon!).

I chose "I finish the vast majority because I use very small sized armies". Because I do finish most of my games except when I get matched up against "I'm unlucky and tend to get opponents who are kind of slow and/or use larger armies."

Yeah, I'm still trying to grasp the basic rules of the game. The more I play though, the more it starts to make sense and all come together.

Oh I grab my whole chaos army, and scream and charge them across the field. Usually by 3 turns either everything on their side is dead, or all my guys are dead. Quite an effective way to make games short.

I rarely finish because My armies are just too big. IG, ORKS, Skaven. ALthough movement in fantasy is much easier.

Not played in any tournaments but I tend to finish my normal 40k games slowly because I talk with my opponent's alot because most of them are friends and we get into conversatons/arguments

There are two lengths of games in my gaming group. Neither length has any bearing on army size.

Either we finish in 2 hours because we agreed not to talk to each other.

Or we play 3+ hour games because we talk about every little event in the game and stop to ask "why are you doing that"

I've never competed in a tournament (just wait until I get my hands on you, 40k Martial Prowess!). I'm not sure whether or not I would finish a game though, because when I've played with my friends, we've only ever played Annihilation without counting the turns, just a "last-man-standing" type game, I guess.

tournaments tend to bring up the bad side of the players. I hate when this happens.

I've completed a number of 1500 point games in under an hour. It helps that I play Marines, and there are very few horde players at my LGS, but I'm a fast player in general.

Once, I was playing a "planetstrike" game (my opponent decided to go mech and attack) and the store was about to close. We got through the last 2 turns in 15 minutes. As long as you know what you are doing and there isn't much left to think about, you can play really fast. This totally falls apart when you get matched with a thinker/talker, though.

I finish the vast majority of my games due to chaos being such a small army and knowing my army well.

As to Tauzor's and KOS's posts, I agree to an extent. On average I get half and half on pulling people who are too serious. It drives me nuts that I always pull some guy who can't even crack a smile during a game. Just like everything else in life, you tend to remember the bad more than the good. I'm determined to make myself start going to tournaments again this year though. (resolution #2)

I finish nearly all my games. In the last two years, the only game I haven't clearly finished was the one with Blackmoor in the gladiator two years ago. In that one, I brought an absolutely extreme army (over 200 models), and we only had two hours. IIRC we set up fairly slowly too - we were both trying to take pictures in the early rounds, and I think that sapped some of our time. It was early in the morning too - I finished all the other games with it that day (well, I got a concession in round 2, but that's somewhat complete).

I finish quick, cause my army is generally auto-pilot after deployment coupled with 'sticking with the plan'...whatever that may be.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

whenever I don't finish a game, its because my opponent is playing slow as gak. my turns are always very very fast... which is a fault I need to work on. I get overexcited, and miss obvious things that I shouldn't.
