Subject: I want to buy a new army, do I sell the old one?

For the record I don't have just one army. I have 4: Death Guard, World Eaters/Skulltakers, Ork (Bad Moonz) and a 2.2K Emperor's Children army. The EC army is the one in question. I have the army going all the bells and whistles: 2 full sonic squads, FW Dread with weapons options, FW vehicle upgrades. It's all unbuilt. I want to get a 2.2K SM army.
Is it worth trying to sell off the army piecemeal where I know not everything will sell and be stuck with the dregs that no one wants. Or should I just get the SM army. I really don't want a 5th army and the EC's are just sitting in a box. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be appriciated.

If it's unassembled I would say try and unload it all at once. If there are pieces inside that a person doesn't want, its much easier for them to trade off the unwanted items and just keep the special pieces himself.

I unloaded all my White Scars at once. Basically, if you want to get rid of everything all at once a bulk price is usually more attractive to potential buyers. If you unload piece meal, you will be left with alot of figures no one wants. Although, you ususally make more money by selling it piece meal. Those that are left you can sell for a really cheap price just to get rid of them.

Ok, next question. Do I do a small opening bid and let it ride or a Buy it Now/Best offer.

Think of the lowest (reasonable) price you would be prepared to let it go for and start the bidding at that.

Then have a buy it now price for what you want for it...an ungodly amount would discourage other buyers, it should be what you think your army is worth and something that you would be happy with if you got that amount.

Don't do buy it now, it's a 10% fee. That's not for private auctions that's for business sellers.
edit: correction, 12% fee in US.

Don't sell it unless you don't have storage for it. You'll never get what you think it's worth, and 10 years from now you'll regret it.
Give it to some kid who seems like he's actually trying to learn the game if you have to get rid of it. The karma will make your next army invincible.

Yeh and I was just thinking, you could just do a renegade marine army and use a lot of the EC models.

Keep it.
After some time you may want to go back to it, even if it's only for nostalgic reasons. I sold my Biel-tan Eldar army and I sorely regret it.

If you sell it you will likely regret doing so later.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
