Subject: Question about Oddboyz and Ork Development

I'm new to 40k, and some friends and I were wanting to start doing some background RP for our armies, and an interesting question came up.
I know that Orks are spawned from fungus - how "old" are they then? Do they start out childlike, fully adult, or somewhere in between? Is their language learned, or inborn, like doctorin' and Mek knowledge?
I know that Meks and Weirdboys knowledge and abilities are built into their genetic code, but do they start out with the full amount of their knowledge, or like their size, does it grow with experience and time? Could you have a regular orkboy who's just spawned, who realizes only later that he's a mek or a doc or a weirdboy?
And if all this is already written out somewhere, where might I find it?

Storm Boyz used to be described as teenage Orks and were highly disciplined (unlike human teens which are generally wild and rebellious) and Unorky with many older Orks making fun of them. The models were represented by Orks in a Hitler Youth style Uniforms compleate with German Helmets!
This fluff however has now been consigned to the history books and no-longer applies as far as I’m aware.

Probably a little too contriversial for some people's comfort. but the german helmets on orks sound really cool. Got any pix of them?

You can see quite a few of the old ork models here - they all used to have a heavy German theme to them.
To the OP Orks basically pop out of the ground in a more or less adult stage. There's certainly no such thing as child orks (unless, I suppose, one was to dig them up.)

Much like the Orcs in LOTR, Orc just come from the ground full grown in boyz stage. Then as time goes along they tend to migrate to a specific clan or type such as wierd boyz. And they grow bigger and stronger by fighting so the more they fight the more they grow and the more powerful they become.
