Which army should I play and if so why?

I already play a 6000 point salamanders army so I want something different, but fun to play with.

Well, if you dont already play nids, you could do the ol' jump on the bandwagon in january when the new dex comes out, though i say dont, noone likes a wagon jumper! I say necrons, we need some more cron players!!

Careful adielubbe. "Soon" has been trademarked by GW as of the announcement of the DE codex some time back in... yea. However many centuries ago a new Dex' was announced... Don't want to get sued

But yea I would play Crons, just because they're also getting some all-new units with their new Dex, whereas Nids are likely to lose a few.

Nids. You already have one MEQ army, so playing another army with 4's across the board and a 3+ armor save could get rather dull. I just think Necrons are extremely dull, and as a Marine player you'll no doubt miss giving squads special weapons, or giving sergeants special equipment. They're allegedly getting a codex late next year, or even 2011. They're considered to be the least competitive codex in the game. I'm no power gamer, but I've only lost once against Necrons, and that was a really strange situation. Winning isn't everything, but losing every game is disheartening.

Go for the Tyranids. GW confirmed they have a new codex coming out in January, so spend the next few months amassing troops and getting a good paint scheme down. Nids are a really fun army to play as and fight, and there's lots of things you can do with the current codex, or with the upcoming one.

Besides, it's always good to see another wacky xenos army floating about

I like the necrons, but yeah after reading so much on how they suck in 5th... nids sound like the way to go.

BTW for the other armies here are my reasons why they were not included.

SM: got them
IG: already played at store
INQ: pricey and too much like marines (though might get inquistor lord converted into abraham lincoln
Orks: I love the waaaaagghhhh idea, but they just dont seem like the kinda of army that represents me
Eldar: already played at store
Chaos: too much like marines
Daemons: maybe khorne.... but I like necrons and nids more
Tau: Already played at store
Dark Eldar: No.... just no.

Necrons are a very cool and unique army and I think we'd all like to see them more often.

As a Tyranid player, go with them. There isn't another army you can do more with. There is so much customization and possibilities that you can use same figures in every game, and they are completely different by biomorphs, making a new experience every time.

Of course, that might completely change with the new Codex, but I think I heard there will be FOUR new units in it.

Nids: Lots of options.

Necrons: Very few options. Even fewer useful options.

They have Lincoln minis that you can buy...I bought one of Che Guevara to use as the commander for my Gue'vesa-themed IG army.
