Games Workshop Stockholm celebrates 10 years
Print
Email to a Friend
On 31st October, far to the north in the land of Sweden, our shining beacon - Games Workshop Stockholm - celebrates the 10th anniversary of its founding. With special Studio guests and cake, this will be a party to remember!
31st October, 2009
This promises to be one of the biggest parties of 2009 with loads of fun and crazy events, including special guests all the way from the Design Studio:
Special Guests
Premier model designer and sculptor, Jes Goodwin, is responsible for the iconic look of so many of the Citadel Miniatures, including the Space Marines, Eldar and Tyranids.
'Eavy Metal's Anja Wettergren is one of the greatest miniatures painters in the world, whose work appears throughout our rulebooks, codexes and army books, on box packaging, in White Dwarf and right here on the web.
Both Jes and Anja will be in the Stockholm Hobby Centre all day. Anja will challenging all comers in a speed painting comp, while Jes will be talking about the hobby - you could even challenge him to a game or two.
Forge World and other goodies
For one day only, visitors to the Stockholm Hobby Centre will have the chance to purchase several Forge World products from the range and be able to take them away on the day. Please note, this is only while stocks last.
This is also your only chance to purchase the specially comissioned and extremely limited GW Stockholm Birthday T-shirt.
So, for a day to remember, the chance to meet members of the Design Studio and some frantic in-store hobby games and activities, get yourself to GW Stockholm on the 31st October - and being Hallowe'en, fancy dress is optional...
We'll see you there!
Does anyone know what kind of events GW usualy have at these kinds of things?
Cuz im thinking about going but its a long way so i need to know some more about it.
Also i wonder if anyone else is going?

Heh. I'd go if I could make it -- was in Stockholm earlier this year on my honeymoon. Managed to accidentally* wander past GW stores in all four cities we went to.
* Yes, it was an accident, had no idea where any of them were, but managed to see all of them in our wanderings...

Stockholm is worth a visit. It's a nice city. I expect it's pretty dark and cold at this time of the year.
350Km is what, 2.5 hours by train? Do-able as a day trip but it will be a long day.

the problem is that i live in nowhere the train doesn't come to us very often.
according to GW its also 80.95 miles to the nearest store that sell GW stuff (how much is that in km?)

Hmm..... Five hours by train from copenhagen... That´s doable but not that much fun.
Will have to see, but this sounds like fun!

I have little clue about this evening. But I expect that the store will be overfull with customer because the store is not very big (they have a small cash counter, three playing table and a table for modeling and painting).
But I will also visit this evening and see if I can buy any Forgeworld miniatures.

Wow, that is creepy in the extreme, because, as far as I know, there are only two 'pure' Gw stores in the country.
I would be really excited about this if I expected to get more then a couple of words with the celebreties, but we all know the odds of that.
No matter what, I sure hope to see some of you there. I will be wearing the white t-shirt with "WAAAGH! the orks", for the occasion.
