Hi there. I don't play LotRs, but was planning on doing a conversion of some 40K models and therefore needed some hound/wolf models and I immediately thought of Wargs. The only wargs I have been able to find are these:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1080112&rootCatGameStyle=

do they come with the rider attached, or would it be easy to just assemble the Wargs themselves?

Also, if any of you know of any other great Wolf/Big dog/Hound of Baskerville themed models, please do mention it

Cheers

GW plastic wargs come with a chunk missing at the top of the spine and a hole in the middle of it.

This missing chunk may be filled either by a hump of warg-back, or by a rider, each of which has a plug to match the hole.

Be aware that if you go to a GW event they will make you pack up the LoTR conversions and play without them.

Long story short is that the deal with New Line cinemas states that models will not be mixed with any other GW IP. Hense why they are 25mm instead of 28mm.

No problem - nearest one is like 5 hours away in a train, and that's the only one in my country

But sounds great that they are usable, except now I have to decide between those and the Chaos Warhounds I had decided on

The wargs are rather smaller than the chaos warhounds. 40K models are rather larger scale than LotR. It will look odd and cruel to have 40K figures on LotR wargs, unless they are gobbos or ratlings.

Won't be using them as mounts, so that shouldn't be a problem but I'm a little bit concerned about the size now. I was gonna proxy them as Kroot Hounds, and a Kroot is a somewhat large figure (at least Space Marine size). Would the Wargs without riders look to small compared to them? After all, they're supposed to be Kroot Hounds, not Kroot Puppies

I thought that was scrapped some time ago?

Assuming they're anything comparable to the metal warg Gothmog rides...

Yeah they're pretty damn big really. As long as nothing is riding on them.

Thanks mate. That really is a large figure... Hm... Think I'm gonna buy them and just see how it turns out.

Thanks for all the replies, you guys have been really helpful.
