More about the game here...

You don't need to buy the rules because I've got them. Some bits will be adapted for online play and I will issue a summary and the key tables to all players.
The game will run on a weekly turnaround. As a player you simply send in four orders to six orders per turn, and spend a bit of time plotting amongst yourselves.
Results will be published in a weekly news bulletin, in a thread dedicated to the game.
I will limit the number of players to 24 until I am happy I could run it for more.
Post below if you are interested. It takes a fair bit of setting up by the
GM so I won't bother unless I get 12 players minimum. I won't initially accept more than 24 players as it could all get a bit too much.
En Garde -- a synopsis of the game.
In a campaign of En Garde, players recreate the social life of gentlemen in Paris in the early 17th century as depicted in films such as The Three Musketeers.
The object of the game is to rise to the highest social level. This is done by gaining status points by various activities, conniving, and using influence to gain rewarding appointments.
For example:
Joining a fashionable club or regiment; Having a beautiful mistress; Gambling; Duelling and winning; Toadying to your superiors; Becoming a General; Etc. etc.
One turn lasts a month (takes a week to play) and contains four action phases -- weeks -- plus some non-action items such as applying for or paying back loans.
A typical turn might look like this.
June, 1625, Orders for Aramis, Social Level 5. (emailed privately to the GM)
Misc. Borrow 100 pistoles from a moneylender and consume conspicuously this month (-15 Pistoles)
Week One: Apply to join the Queen’s Own Carabiniers as a lieutenant.
Week Two: Go to Red Duke’s club to toady with the Count of Amalfi. Gamble until losing.
Week Three: Go to my own club and carouse.
Week Four: Go to my mistress’s house
Results (emailed privately to the player)
Week One: Accepted. Gain 5 Status Points. -10 Pistoles.
Week Two: +10 SPs. Won 25 Pistoles.
Week Three: +1
SP. -5 Pistoles
Week Four: Met a rival at the door. A duel ensued. Aramis lost and suffered 27 Endurance points of wounds. -1SP.
Month end +18 SPs. Aramis gains a Social Level and becomes SL6.
Blah blah, etc, more boring details about Pistoles (money.)
For the amusement of all the players, the more newsworthy of these events will be written up in the monthly campaign newspaper.
