I've been interested in some of the FW models and books, namely the Blight Drone , and I just wanted to know if anyone knew the current currency conversion.

You know, just so I can get a sense of what it's worth in American dollars.

Alternately you can type "100 pounds in USD" into google and it will show you the conversion.

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

Also to note if you do make a FW order when you recieve it they give you a catalog that shows the prices in US currency so not as much guessing. Also i think you can request for a free catalog me thinks.

I'm sorry, but what did you expect? It's not only a resin kit, but also a pretty large and fiddly one. About the same size as a Chaos Dreadnought, and roughly in the same ballpark of pricing.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Indeed, I'll gnash my teeth inceasantly about the current and ongoing pricing of the Games Workshop models, but Forgeworld is and has always been a 'luxuary' collectors range to compliment them, they have always been priced high and are worth it imo.

The currency rate is too bad to make FW doable right now.

We need UK to go into the tank.

We are in a mess though, it's just that the Dollar is in a bad way too. At least the rate isn't too far off what it was a few years ago, it's currently about 60p-$1. A couple of years back it was was as much as 50p-$1 which was great for us, not so for you. Both America and Britain have slumped together, but compare us to Europe - the exchange rate with the Euro is a killer in the UK it used to be 70p - €1 now it's more like 90p - €1. Ouch!!

Today's conversion is $1.6658 USD to 1 GBP. This is important to pay attention to.

This is actually a stronger dollar position then a few years ago but higher then May/June of this year when the dollar reached a High of $1.49 USD to 1 GBP. GBP was "weaker" b/c it bought less dollars.

In contrast. In April/May of 2008 it was $2.00 USD to 1 GBP.

So in essence, FW stuff is cheaper today by almost 20% from where it was 19 months ago, but 17% more expense then it was 6 months ago.

Needless to say, I jumped on a Thunderhawk and Reaver titan in this last summer. 25% off for FW due to currency exchange was too great to pass up when you are talking about 925 GBP in total. $1850 in May 0f 08 was $1388 May of 2009.

I also keep an eye on the exchange rate for Ebay selling. When the Dollar is in a weak position to the Euro or Pound it makes your painted models "cheaper" for European buyers. You'd get much higher prices from European bidders. It was cheap to them but you booked more dollars.

Yeah I saved about $175-200 at this point ordering my reaver early last year compared to the current conversion rates...

This site gives the interbank rate.

The exchange rate you actually get will be less favourable depending on your bank and how much you exchange in a single transaction.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Also, at lease in the US, most Credit Cards will charge a fee for international buys like 1.5% of the total amount.

These sites are nice to give you an idea, but if you're going to do an international purchase, call your bank yourself and ask them what exchange rate they're using currently, as that's the one you'll be charged.

For an example, XE is showing the rate as 1.65 today, but Capital One is using 1.72.

I'm making great deals because off the low euro/pound conversion rate. 1 euro at this moment is 0.90 pounds and still if I would be so stupid as to order something from GW's website they would charge me 80 euro's for something with a pricetag of 50£. God bless maelstrom games.

A month ago I bought two eldar battleforces via maelstrom for 98... euros, GW would have charged me 160 euros for it. Golden years these are.

An annoying part about FW vs GWUK proper is that US buyers pay VAT when ordering from FW, and not when ordering from GWUK.

At 16% or what ever it is currently, that is a nice discount, which would go a long way to making FW more affordable.
