Ok so last night i had a 1500 point game vs some 1000 sons
the lists were as follows.
Grey Templar Space Marines
Space marine captain with LC, Art armor, storm bolter.
Combat squad. power sword, plasma pistol, flamer, rhino
Combat squad. missile launcher
Combat squad. BP, CCW, plasma gun
Combat squad. BP, CCW
Combat squad missile launcher
5 man Dev squad. Missile, 2 heavy bolters
Ironclad dred. chainnfist, melta, DCCW, hvyflamer
Ven Dred, Las, missile
5 assault terms, 3 TH/ SS, 2 LC and LR
Sons
Sons SC whatever he is.
LR
2 10 man squads with rhinos
2 defilers
Automatically Appended Next Post: mission was the objective in each Dep zone. deployment 12" in
there was a hill along the entire left (from my view)board edge.
large Forest in the middle.
Streams running through whole map in a spiderweb like pattern.
Bridge to the right of the forest over a stream.
hedges on the opponents board edge.
I won roll for first turn.
I put my LR with termies inside on the right flank. The rhino with the first Combat squad and captain inside went in the middle with a Missile combat squad on the right and the plasma gun squad on the left. The Ironclad went behind the rhino.
The Ven dred, Devestators and the last Combat squad went on the hill top on the left with the objective under the combat squad.
Sons put the defilers on their left(my right) flank. The LR was on the hill and the rhinos were on the hill side. Automatically Appended Next Post: First turn.
Move. I move the LR 6" onto the bridge. Rhino, tac squad and ICdred move into the forest. nothing else moves.
Shoot. LR shoots a Las at each Defiler. one shot fails to damage the defiler. other defiler is wrecked. left most missile combat squad shoots surviving Defiler through woods, it make a save. Ven dred shoots and fails to damage the sons raider.
Sons turn. living defiler moves towards woods and fleets and charges my rhino and tac squad. LR and rhinos move towards my objective. Defiler gains 5 penetrating hits on rhino and rolls 1, 1, 2, 2, 1 on damage chart. tac squads grenades fail to damage defiler
Turn ends
To be continued

Grey Templar, your list…
What do you mean by combat squad? 10 man squads right?
If you mean 5 man squads, then you can’t get any special/hvy weapons…only the sergeant can get options…
I added up the list with 10 man tactical squads and it’s near 2000….so I’ll assume you mean 5 man squads, which means there was a huge mistake made.
I added up the list with 5 man squads and it seems around 1500, but a bit over.
Combat squad. BP, CCW
What’s that supposed to mean? Tactical Squads can NOT get CCW’s on them.
Ironclad: why a Chainfist? The Seismic Hammer is miles better than going at initiative 1…it’s str 10 already…
Your opponent’s list:
Arhiman (spelling aside) is the name.

I mean the sergent and combat squads means i had a tac squad and split it. i listed combat squads for deployment clarity, this is my first report ever
these are vanilla marines
Why would the chainfist go at I1? I prefer the reliability of 2d6 AP vs AV14
Turn 2
Move
I turn and move my LR into the forest and unload the terminators behind the defiler.
My Rhino is unable to move. The ICdred moves into position to charge the defiler.
Missile squad on right moves towards my opponents undefended Obj which is in the right middle of his zone.
Shoot
Ven dred, devestator squad and the combat squad(with missile) on my Obj fire at the 1k sons approaching tanks. every thing either misses or fails to damage(stupid demonic possesion ) Missile combat squad on my right runs to the Obj. LR manages to score 2 penetrating hits on sons LR, but he makes his cover(my LR is shooting through the forest)
Assault
ICdred, terminators assault the defiler in the center. Dred goes first(I4) and scores 2 pens, weapon destroyed and explodes. Defiler explodes 2" Tac squad takes 1 casualty and fail pinning test terminators consolidate 2" towards my left. ICdred consolidates 3"
Sons turn
Move
his LR moves up close to my objective and unloads his terminators and his 1k sons SC(forgot what his name is) both of his rhinos move next to his LR, turn so i am facing his side and unload 20 sons towards my objective.
Shoot
His SC succesfully casts Bolt of Tzeench at my Vendred, penetrating hit wrecked, reroll Explodes, 1" nothing harmed. his SC succesfully casts gift of chaos on my Combat squad, Brother Bob becomes a spawn . one squad of 1k sons shoot and wipe out my dev squad(who so far managed to do absolutly nothing) other squad shoots my pinned tac squad, bolters fail to wound, but the sorcerer casts the flamer power they have and kills 2 marines.
Assault
his terminators are out of charge range from the squad that is fighting the spawn and the sons rapid fired.
My tac squad which is now four member manages to get 2 hits and one wound on the spawn(which has no armor) spawn rolls for attacks and gets
attack hits and wounds, but i roll my armor. Spawn rolls leadership and fails he rolls 3 for retreat and i roll
i consolidate 3" away from his units.

It'd be nice if there were pictures, or better prose, or some sort of detailed list of the opposing army.
A for effort, C for implementation.
Reading more closely: Gift of Chaos is cast at the beginning of the turn, not in the shooting phase, Ahriman has to attack the same target with his psychic shooting attacks (Gift of Chaos is not a psychic shooting attack, by the way), Thousand Suns are Slow and Purposeful and so can assault after using Rapid Fire weapons (and use them at 24" range while moving), Chaos Spawn are Fearless and so follow the No Retreat! rules for losing combat.

Turn 3
Move
my pinned squad get off their ironclad dred moves through forest towards the nearest sons squad. terminators roll 3 for difficult terrien. LR moves 6" towards left edge. my missile squad on the right moves, sneakely, towards the far Obj. Captain and squad with power sword and flamer disembark from rhino and move in to rapidfire range. Rhino remains stationary.
Shoot
My tac squad rapid fires the nearest sons squad. ICdred flames and meltas the same squad, result is 4 sons down from both dred and tac marines, leaving 4 sons. Captain and his squad fire at the other sons squad to no effect. Tac squad on my Obj fire at chaos terminators, one terminator fails his save. My missile squad runs 3" towards his Obj. My LR destroys one rhino
Assault
IC dred assaults Sons and kills 2, they take 2 saves for Fearless dred consolidates to the raider
Sons turn
Move
the squad that isn't locked with the dred rembarkes into the last rhino and move towards their zones Obj(realizing what my squad on the right is doing)
LR moves towards my dred, why i don't know. his terminators move towards my combat squad on the objective. Ariman seperated from termies and moves towards my captain and his squad(what is he doing?)
Shoot
Ariman casts gift of chaos at my captain, Nooooooo, it's succesfull terminators shoot at my combat squad and kill a marine. Ariman casts bolt of Tzeench at my Dred, penetrates and rips the chainfist off
Assault
His new spawn takes a wound from my tac squad and does one unsaves wound in return. terminators assault my missile combat squad and whipe them out.
Turn 4
Move
My terminators finally get out of the woods and move as fast as they can towards the remaining rhino. LR remains stationary. The tac squad in the wood moves to rapis fire the terminators. My combat squad reach the objective and park on it. My rhino Tank shocks his terminators, they pass LD and move out of the way.
Shoot
LR shoots at the remaining rhino and wreck it. sons pile out. My Rhino fires at Termies with no effect(my rhino only moved 6" during the TS. read the RB if you think this is not leagle)
Assault
My Dred assaults the LR gets one penetrating hit and rolls a 5. My opponents then insists on reading the rules on dreadnoughtCCWs to see if they are indeed str 10(he normally plays his eldar and hasn't got his sons out in 6 years) His LR still dies.
My squad gets a wound on the spawn without taking any back, but the spawn passes Ld.
Sons turn.
Move
Terminators move towards both my squads
Sons move towards my terminators
Shoot
Sons fire bolt pistols at my terminators and kill 2. Ariman casts Gift of Chaos on my terminators and turns one into a spawn.
His Terminators shoot my tac squad with the plasma gun and kill a marine.
Assault
Ariman assaults the squad that is fighting the spawn and the terminators assault both squads. My sergeant puts a wound on Ariman. Ariman kills himself with a PotW.(I don't remember what he was trying to cast) Spawn does nothing. Terminators wipe out both squads.
His Sons assault my terminator squad which is down to one member. The Sorcerer wounds twice with his force weapon and i fail one 3+ invuln. They consolidate 6" towards his objective.
Turn 5
At this point i hav a LR, a rhino, and a combat squad with a missile launcher
Move
nothing
Shoot
My LR fires at his sons and kills 2 with the lascannon. my Tac squad fires at the spawn and either fail to hit or wound.
Assault
Sons turn
Move
The sons and the terminator spawn move to try and take the objective away from me. everything else is stuck in the difficult terrien of the woods and fails to move any appriciable distance.
Shoot
the sons fire long range shots at my tac squad, but put a whole new twist on epic fail when out of 7 hits only one wounds. one of my marines dies.
His Spawn both fleet and the Terminator spawn assaults my tac marines
Assault
My Tac marines cause a single wound on the spawn which is now down to 2. spawn rolls a for his attacks, but I save the 2 wounds that are the result
We roll and go on to turn 6
Turn 6
Move
My LR moves to block the sons from geting to the objective
shoot
LR kills a Son
Assault
nothing happens
Sons turn
Move
His other spawn moves closer to my marines.
Shoot
His spawn(my former captain) fleets
Assault
His spawn assaults my marines. My marines do three hits and two wounds to the spawns. The terminator spawn dies and My former captain is left standing with one wound.
We roll to see if we go on. it's a 2.
Game ends.
Result=Draw
This was the most enjoyable game i have had in a long time. The one thing i would have done differently was take a librarian instead of a captain.

He said that spawn that are summoned by GoC are not fearless.
I guess he did just rapid fire and then assault the terminators.
Earlier in turn one. he wasn't able to assault because he was out of range(my bad for forgeting)

Your opponent is obviously unfamiliar with the Chaos Space Marine rules (at least those to do with Ahriman, Spawn, and the Gift of Chaos).
Gift of Chaos is cast at the beginning of the CSM turn, before movement, and not in the shooting phase. Spawns created by the Gift of Chaos are standard Chaos Spawn: they are Fearless.
I can't figure out how Ahriman managed to kill himself via the Powers of the Warp when he apparently had two wounds left. The only power Ahriman can use in close combat would be his Force Weapon power, though why he would cast that when fighting Terminators is beyond me: all it does is cause Instant Death.
Mind you, when Ahriman can cast three powers a turn and only appears to be casting two, the fact that he cheated you in those two ways is minor compared to how he could have legitimately thrashed you.

A Chainfist is a Chainfist... ? Why would it go at initiative on an Iconclad.
The dreadnought close combat weapon has it's own rules...the Sizzzmic Hammer has a special note about it being a DCCW.
The chainfist does not. And hence is a normal chainfist.
Which would mean you would have had to use the normal DCCW if you wanted to keep I4...which may or not (most likely may not) have changed anything, but certainly it would not have been an I4 2D6 str 10....which IMO is overdoing the whole thing.
That's how I see the RAW, but oh well, moving on...
_________________________
As for combat squads...
Just list them like:
10 Tacticals, Vet w/ Power weapon, Flamer, ML.
Simple, and most people will assume which is where when you can simply say they all combat squad...at least I see it much easier to decipher if it's like that.
_________________________
As to the opponent using Ahriman....heh... I'm sure a very small population in the world actually want to know how to use him.... let alone actually use him.
But I do applaud the Thousand Sons for dying to the IronClads power weapon attacks and then dying to no retreat... heh.

So... he periled himself on his last wound or his second?
The only thing I see is the Vet putting a wound on him.
Which means he has 2 wounds left.
If he perils...the most he loses is one wound... which means he's still alive.
In additionthe Siesmic Hammer is a great weapon.
+1 Damage Result is a great thing to have when you already have str 10.

So Ahriman suffered a Perils of the Warp when casting the Bolt of Change during Turn 3? And then suffered it again in Turn 4 when charging the Terminators? I take it he failed his Invulnerable saving throw both times as well.
The cheating comes from moving prior to casting the Gift of Chaos which gives the power a respectable 12" effective range rather than its 6" actual range.
On the bright side, if your opponent had been more familiar with Ahriman and his powers and rules, then you might have been on the receiving end of three Gifts of Chaos a turn, or a combination like Warptime, Wind of Chaos, and Doombolt or Bolt of Change.

Actually no, Combat squads can only be created prior to the game, or when a regular 10-man squad disembarks a Drop Pod.

@Captain Solon:
My post was not about the merits of Combat Squadding.
I was trying to figure out how the OP wrote his army list...which was confusing (at least for me) when it's not in the usualy format I generally see it written as.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
