Subject: Tyranids vs. Space Marines of the Candy Cane Chapter.
Hello all, I recently made a battle report of my Tyranid's vs. a friend's Marines. I decided to go against the norms and I made a video report. Here's a link.
And for those of you who would rather watch it here.
Feel free to post some sort of constructive criticisms. The point value was around 500. The mission was capture and control. Deployment was spearhead. We pretty much ignored turn limits. We play super casually. And the store I play at now has a really nice terrain table instead of the bare weird one I played on this game.

It's Kirby.
Purple makes Nids... I dunno.

Way to make a stupid comment about a seemingly new players board Zack, that really welcomes him to DakkaDakka the right way...
EDIT: Sorry Zack, looked worse than it was at first glance.
Your board seems a bit empty, given that 25% should be covered by terrain. Don't be afraid to use books covered in cloth as hills and rocks from outside as rubble.
It might be camera perspective, but that board looks a bit larger than 6x4. Also for spearhead you can start 24" away, again perspective, but without having fully watched the report, I suggest that deploying closer might change the outcome of the next game.
EDIT: Good to know you found a better place to play.
As for your list it looks a bit weak overall, but for a fun game that isn't a problem. However a list like this at 500 points is pretty fun and competitive.
You have a good mix of Dakka, Assault, and Tank hunting with cheap troops that are good in scoring games and can be hidden or used as a screen in KP games.

Tyrants put out 12 Twin-Linked S5 shots that re-roll wounds. Against your basic SM squad they will hit 10.66 times, wound 9.48 times and wound just over 3 times. If they assault SM out of cover they then deal a further 2.22 wounds for about 5.3 dead space marines in one turn.
Your Gaunts, don't hurt much at all failing to deal a wound 1/3rd of the time with a full round of shooting. If they assault SM out of cover they deal 0.89 of a wound, this totals out to a modest 1.22 SM. They key with them is to screen charges and never mix your Tyrant in a battle with Gaunts due to fearless rules.
Your Carnifex hurts as well and at 12" he hits 7.5 times, wounds 7.083 times, and kills 2.36 marines. When your Carnifex charges he will kill 1.25 marines for a total of 3.61 dead marines.
