So which army is good for a starting Hordes player???

I've played WM since it's release, but never ever touched Hordes.

I like the Troll Models, but can't paint their skin to save my life.

I like the Skorne Models (especially the Cyclopes), but I don't think they have a dedicated caster for beasts.

I think the Legion models are average (except Epic Thagrosh who IMO is the best model PP have produced), love the background, but think they are difficult to use.

I'm not much on the Circle models, but love Baldur and his Construct themed army, but I don't think they'll be all that great in game.

Can anyone help with my selection.

I currently play Khador and have started Retribution, so i'm looking for a medium between the two, but with out a lot of models to paint.

Low model count fast beatstick would probably be Kromac, but I'm not sure about his current incarnation.

Another option would be an epic Thagrosh flying warbeast list.

Not sure how people run it, but Skorne stampede would be low model count.

The way I paint Troll skin is:
Shadow grey basecoat, followed by a heavy trollblood base drybrush, followed by a lighter underbelly blue drybrush. It's a bit chalky, but it looks okay, I think.

I've looked everywhere for the Skorne Stampede list - cannae find it.

I know there are 2 list variants - Titan Herd and Cyclops heavy.

Well I'm definately going Trollbloods. Made up a list, tested it today and it works pretty good. Bonus - it has quite a small model count and has all my fave models of their range.

Awesome.

Now remember that you're not married to the studio paint schemes. If you don't like the blue faded to a fleshy grey, don't do it. The troll models look good in almost any colour. Bright red, pink, grey-green, whatever. They're really great miniatures.
