Subject: Quick reply is slow?

Enigmatic Sorcerer of Chaos

Ive been noticing this the past two weeks or so and at first i thought it was my comp, however its happening on multiple comps it would seem, so I highly doubt its my own computer.
Whenever I try to use the quick reply box, this text seems to move extremely slow. So it actually takes about 10 seconds or so to catch up to what I have actually typed on my keyboard. Backspace however works normal and is quick and instant.
Does that make any sense at all? And if so, is anyone experiencing this problem? Its quite frustrating cause I have to wait a while to know if I have any typing errors, and if I do I have to wait even longer to double check there is still no errors... its just getting annoying and not really a "quick" reply

What web browser? That is a new one to me... my first assumptions would be either some odd javascript error or some problem on your system?

Quite odd, I'll wait for some other people to chime in if it is an issue for them too though.

I'll chime in here.
Over the last few months, it feels as if dakkadakka has been increasingly getting slower. I have a 20MB upload / 20MB download connection, and when I hit "submit" for a post, its taking 10-30 seconds to save the post. It wasn't always like this, but its getting worse.

That is a different error dashofpepper, which is mentioned in another recent thread in this forum. Basically just heavy load pushing us hard at peak times. I'm continuing a long process of optimisation and tweaking so it will eventually ease up.

It happens to me sometimes but not frequently, as i am writing now, in the quick reply box, the text is coming up as i hit the keys but occasionaly it does become slow.
I'm using Mozilla Firefox, if it helps.

I have a problem similar to dashofpepper, I cannot create new threads, pms, or even reply except with the quick reply box. When I hit submit it usually tries to save for about 2 to 3 minutes, then I get this: This webpage is not available. The webpage at http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/jforum.page might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. I've tried refreshing the page after hitting submit and get this: "This is a read only forum, you do not have privileges to post here" or something like that. I've used both Google Chrome and IE on multiple computers. EDIT: sorry for the thread hijack, but this was my only way :(

Exact browser versions, operating systems, your ISP name and tell me if http://www.whatismyip.com/ reveals that you are behind a proxy as well.
All that will be helpful in figuring out if there is an issue beyond that which is already known (and mostly fixed in a forthcoming release).

Google Chrome 4.0.249.78, Windows XP Professional SP 2, ATT DSL 1.5, and from what I can see, no i'm not behind a proxy. I hope that helps.

Yup that should be enough to aid me with my investigation. I presume dakka is the only site you experience the problem on?
