So, after reading the Necron 'dex, a thought crossed my mind, to do with the briefly mentioned race the Krork. The Krork are described as being created by the old ones to fight the C'tan, having Green skin, and escaping the Nightbringers "Boon" and so being without fear of death-now, the Brainboyz mentioned in the Ork book could well be the old ones, and the no fear of death and Greenskin sounds right up their alley. Heck, the name even sounds the same.
So am I onto something, or have I completely lost it?

Its likely, i think i remember hearing about how the krork are the orkz, but they were still being developed when they were unleashed due to the time constraints presented by the war with the necrons, but then again i heard that the snotlings were the brain boyz who degenerated after the orkz they made as slaves revolted and ate all their brain mushrooms. Its hard to remember which version takes precedence since i dont know when either was the official story.

iirc the Brainboyz were a 4th member of the Ork Genus, being those inc ommand of the soliderz, workers etc.
so the Krork was the overall name fo the greenskin by th Old Ones.
i seem to rmemeber reaidn ght at somehwere as well although ican't rmemeber where

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |

As the Brainboys fluff (4th ed Orks) is more recent than the Krork fluff (3rd ed Necrons), if only one is "canon" it's the Brainboys.
There are several interpretations of the Krork/Brainboys story, however, that include both elements. One is that the "Krork" are Orks specifically. In this case it is likely that the Brainboys were some sort of ally of the Old Ones, and the Orks were "commissioned", in a sense, by the Old Ones.
Another interpretation is that the Brainboys are the "Krork" exclusively. However, as the Brainboys are described as being a hardy warrior race, it would seem odd to describe what are now Snotlings in this manner. They would only be "warriors" in a very broad sense - that they are a race deadly in warfare because of their ability to create super-soldiers to fight for them - and that could describe lots of races as well. Snotlings may be as "hardy" as Orks - Grots and Squigs are - but as they are not that tough as a whole due to their size this is also kind of a strange description. One possibility here is that the Brainboys started out more physically imposing, and degenerated rather quickly once their warrior and servant races were built.
A third interpretation (and in my opinion, the best) was what Roadkill put forth; that "Krork" refers to all Greenskins. The Old One would then have created the Brainboys, who in turn created Grots, Orks, Squigs, etc. To what degree Orks, Grots, and Squigs are directly related to the Brainboys (genetically, and physiologically) is rather unknown, although the Brainboys were heavily fungus based, so it's likely that's a common thread.
A fourth idea is that the Brainboys and the Old Ones are one in the same. A rather funny idea, as it involves the Old Ones being stomped on my Grots, but it seems rather inconsistent with the Old One's fluff, as they were described as being extremely perceptive but doing everything extremely slowly (like WHFB Slann), and they were described as being wiped out or almost wiped out (which Snotlings obviously are not). It's possible that Snotlings were no longer being considered Old Ones for this purpose, but it still seems like kind of a strange description in that case.
A fifth idea is that "Krork" does not relate to the Greenskins. This would seem plenty likely in a realistic sense (there are millions of aliens out there), but it doesn't work very well from a literary sense (why even bring them up?)

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

Brainboyz fluff exists at least as far back as the 2nd Edition Ork codex though, so it's not that unlikely that the Brainboyz and Krork stuff is supposed to overlap.

A fluff excerpt in the Necron codex talks about the Deceiver talking to someone who mistakes him for a necron. At one point the deceiver says that when he awoke he was interested in how the Krork were so scattered all about the galaxy. Kinda easy to guess Krork = Orks. Orks may have just even dumbed down their own name.
